So... the wife and I have decided that our current house is the forever joint. With that, we are updating/upgrading. One thing, well the only thing on MY list, is an attached shop.

Are there any board members that could/would be interested in this project? Not looking for a DIY, or "my uncle can help". It will need to be legit with permits, blueprints, and such. A guy in my neighborhood works in the permitting department for the city, so I think that should be as easy as possible...

TIA

Garage right....not a She-Shed???
LOL
Congrats and like stated earlier, please do a build thread!

I think a 10 x 10 sea container is a little small to be considered an attached shop.
( Just Saying ) 😁
LOL. True.

The container was temporary. When that got difficult (justifying $4k for it), the wife decided to speed up the timeline on the actual shop.:cool:

Depending on setbacks and easments....it would go as outlined in orange. Houses in my neighborhood have exterior walls on the property line, and some have built out damn near to the side walk. Hoping for as much as possible.

Check the minimum setback from the street at the front of your house. It may be that you can't go out any further than your existing garage.

I Absolutely LOVE my She-Shed???
Dale - This guy is a Honda Gu Ru - not an arts and crafts specialist! We all love your new stencil work and craft bench BUT K&R has Welders - Motors - Tool Boxes that would tear up your Ikea Rug in your "Crafting Safe Space"

Go water that Chia Pet and use the Clapper to shut off all the light and just Breath & Reflect !

Stay Away from these sorts of threads please - K&R has helped a lot of good peeps get their Honda Motors Going and needs some help - When he wants to BeDazzle his helmet I am sure your phone will ring - For now - Stay in your Lane and go check IKEA for some new Baskets to label for above the washing machine !!!

I tried to look this up somewhat unsuccessfully. I live in the city of Phoenix, not a 'burb. From what I'm told, different areas of the city have different variances. 16st/Baseline

My old house, also in Phoenix and only like 3 miles away, many of the houses didn't have a real usable drive way in front of the garage. The door was like 6' from the street. 44st/Baseline

I would at least get some string and a couple of stakes and physically measure what size your shop is going to end up. You might be able to get real close to the wall on Carson but the front elevation of your house is going to be about as far forward you are going to be able to go. Even if you can go forward from there it's never going to look right. Also don't have that angled wall square it off and see what kind of Sq. feet you have

My intention is to remove the cinder block wall and make the exterior of the shop the "wall". Not following the angle would make the space so small that it wouldn't be worth it. Like 1 car garage wide. Note the XJ to the very left of the box. I don't care if the the shop door is closer to the street. I want maximum space.
