anyone here own a "new" Charger...........

that could be a problem for me..... I already have that issue.  LOL.
Got back from driving a plug-in Hybrid Mitsubishi "Eclipse" (it's an SUV, not the fun hatchback from the future sold in the 90s).  Missed my Mustang 5.0.  Mileage this tank is 19mpg instead of the usual 23, but 7500RPM in a V8 is too good to resist after that dog of a vehicle...

Ive wanted to get one of these for a while, but honestly dont know anything about them.  I would like the later model ones with the feature in the door and for sure a Hemi.

what is there to look out for?

what features are desirable?

for a while a lot of folks were talking about the DOD and you "had to disable it", is that still true?  any smog ramifications from that?

is there a "glamis dunes forum" for Chargers?

This is the door Im talking about.

That is sexy!

I ain't no expert. But I did take auto shop in High School. My personal experience with Hemi Tick in a 6.4 is pictured below. Looks like the needle bearing in the roller went away which allowed the ears that support the trunnion to dig into the cam lobe. A new engine fixed it all up. There's plenty of internet dribble on the causes and measures you can take to prolong engine life. It might be Google worthy after you get 100,000 or so miles on your new ride.

These are Dodges after all..........
Hey now.............. Im all for high cost of ownership after initial poor judgement.  ROFLOL.

Maybe go with aftermarket rollers before they mess up. DON~~~

I'm not really positive what causes it in Ram trucks. Lots of theory out there. Really ate up the cam and sent that free range metal to all four corners.

If you're thinking about something with a hemi, Modern Muscle Extreme .com is worth a visit. That's where we sourced the parts. Faster than waiting on OEM.

They are all having issues with roller lifters and cams. 5.3 and 6.2 GM, and now the vaunted 7.3 Ferd Godzilla is eating cams like Doritos.

My wife is on her 3rd  Charger  all SRTs or RTs all Hemi's I personally think they are a great buy in 4 door performance car

horrible gas mileage (if I drive it)  So many things to like - but its still a Dodge ...  There Hemi is bound to have lifter issues after 120K miles  = bad design, changing the oil pump to High Volume seems to fix it

If you run the wrong oil it could be under 100K miles

The more it idles the worse

Shutting off the DOD  usually does. not help

Other than that the last 3 have had  little to no issues in 120-150K miles  (weekly trips to Havasu)

old school is cool also

some of his stuff is cool to look @, but the guy just seems like a tool.  we went up to talk with him about building a motor (YEARS ago) & he just kept trying to blow smoke up my ass and it bugged the crap out of me.

A number of years ago, I wanted a V8 rear wheel drive 4 door car..........fact is the options are slim.  In ended up with a Cadillac CTS-V, zero regrets. Fun car to drive.  I couldn't pull the trigger to own a Dodge, sorry.

Similar situation for me.  That's how I ended up with my SS Trailblazer.

Only regret I have is installing too aggressive of a cam for the stock engine...

It's pretty funny, way back I was hesitant to buy a Mopar, was a Ford family for many many years  but after an endless string of absolute garbage from Ford, and trying a few GM products for good measure, which were all turds, I tried my first one in '05. Now, 5 of our last 6 vehicles have been Mopar, and they have actually been excellent. Perfect? No way, but very good.

This was on my mind, as 20 years after lemon-lawing my last Chevy, I ordered a '24 duramax this morning. Fingers crossed.

When my brother was a cop they used them as cop cars...said they were all junk. Not built well at all and always needed something fixed.

But police use is different that civilian use.

Ended up replacing all of them with the Ford Explorer's.

Personally, as a 4-door car I think they are cool, but I won't ever own one...not a dodge fan.

There...I really had nothing to add to this topic!

:lmao:

I drive them just about every day and it’s a good thing we have a fleet of them. Typical dodge problems. The interior pieces can’t handle heat so they’re all warped and pulling away from their bonding agents. Can’t keep heater cores in them without filling the passenger side floorboard with sweet coolant. Headlight assemblies and washer fluid bottles are discontinued from Mopar and you’re probably going to need one or the other in short order. The brakes have 3 or 4 good stops in them before the pads turn into sticks of butter and you have to let them cool down. If you keep your foot on the brake pedal while they’re cooling the rotors will surely warp. Power is good and the transmissions seem to hold up ok.

I'm back on this again....  going to start looking for cars next week.  anyone have any other comments or suggestions?
