Anyone else terrified to tow?

I've had my share of blow outs over the years. Had my share of fears. When you travel as far as we travel to enjoy mother G it's Gnarly out there. BUT.........learned to enjoy the ride. Peace

Has any of those things helped?  Worth the money?  I've looked at many of them but never felt I needed them - except in the wind - been a few times that shook me up.  Always wanted to do the front tire blowout system.....never had a front tire issue in the motty but have had nightmares about it!
Yes, immensely. It quit feeling like it was wandering, body roll went away and steering is super tight and responsive.

The front blowout system makes the RV want to stay straight all the time. I have not encountered a blowout but I feel like they would absolutely help.

LOL yea I do. train horn and a light road soda eases the nerves. That bull$*&t on the 10 going through Beaumont into morongo is pucker time tho. I just stay in the middle lane and sway all over lol. But yes I hate towing and im a lil guy @ 36' DP and a 28' enclosed.
say no to K rails, I hate that section.

If you have anxiety towing, you shouldn’t be towing.

Your inner self is telling you that you don’t know what your doing.

and here goes this topic flying off of the rails..........  LOL.

I'm a white knuckler in the wind with my class a. I've had that thing for 15 years and still not real comfortable driving it when it's windy. I spent over $6,500 in suspension, airbags, sway bars, front tire blowout system,etc..
gasser or diesel?

I rent TH, MH and Trailers for Glamis trips.

My Gas 6.0 2500HD does awesome with any TH or Enclosed that is 23' or under, doesn't even matter the towing equipment, etc.

At 26' plus, I better pay attention to how I loaded the toys, etc. Make sure the tow equipment is set right, nice and level, etc.

I pulled a 30' TH triple axle to Dumont once, that drive SUCKED. Everything was set at the best it could be, but the motor and brakes were concerns.

Going slow up hill is no big deal, yeah I'm in the higher RPMS and a steady 45 mph over the Cajon Pass, but it was a shit show coming back home and DOWN the Cajon Pass with red-light stop and go traffic. I really felt my brakes starting to have an issue...never again that size TH.

Have only towed with a Class C, its ok with my toys and a 20' flatbed or smaller. Yeah the wind sucks sometimes, I just go slower.

The only things that stress me out is questionable Tow Equipment, because when you Rent, it varies, not all owners are willing to adjust their stuff or let you do same and being in a rush.

If my equipment is on point and I got extra time, I actually enjoying towing down the road any set up.

A DP and Stacker would probably give me a chubby.

Never minded towing.   Only time it gets sketchy is when the winds are enough to move you around.

Fun is being in Mexico towing two SXSs on a trailer and having your friend's serpentine belt go on his Chevy 2500 diesel on the toll road leaving TJ heading to Ensenada.   Turns out you lose power steering and your brakes become almost useless.  Add in sketchy Mexico construction zones and the brakes on the trailer not working.   Had to drive it 40 miles like that before we stopped on side of the road waiting for a friend with parts. Thank god there are a ton of Autozones around.   Idler pulley froze causing the whole problem.

Or.... it keeps you diligent about maintenance and about what you are physically doing......like driving your entire family and lots of money in toys.  What do I know though I drink COORS light lol. Carry on. 🤙🏼

The wind sucks... and blows...

But where I struggle the most is once I'm on the 86 just past Dunes Edge and it's dark... I have semi-trucks coming towards me (blinding me) and 5 side by sides with night sun light bars on the other side of me on sand highway... I literally just stay straight and pray everyone stays where they belong!!

I've had a guy passing a Semi and didn't even care that we almost went head to head!! I moved as far to the right towards sand highway that I felt was safe... but he ran a jeep off the road as he re-merged into his own lane.  I saw my entire life flash before my eyes!!

Night blindness plus only 2 lanes and wind make for a very white knuckled situation for me just on that final stretch!

And the water pump is gear driven.

Caster is your friend when it comes to stability.

No issues here. 36 ft pusher either towing a 4 door jeep or 12ft flatbed with a RZR. Camera lets me know everything is still back there. Heavy enough to not be bothered by other vehicle's. Push a button on a down hill and the speed stays the same. Only issue is sometimes the wind is just at the right angle coming home along the Salton Sea to move me around.

Oh my bad I thought that was a responsibility.

Yeah, I can't understand all the construction on the roads. Only thing that makes me more nervous than being next to a swerving semi are those darn no shoulder K rails.

Just got off with Kyle, so I'm all set with 2 spots. I plan on taking 7-10 day trips this season. My truck is a 6 seater, so long as the bride/family want to go when I go, we can just take one vehicle and have my boy Fernando drop are stuff off in Wash 13 where my group likes to hang.

Should be a GREAT season!

THIS is the way to do it... planning several 7-12 day trips as well, same as the last few seasons. That said, my schedule is always more flexible than everyone else's so we almost always end up with at least two vehicles each trip, as the fam comes out later or leaves and I stay... or both    with the boys getting older and schedules getting crazier we usually at least two trips a season that we'll have 3 vehicles out there for 3-4 people :bangin:   Still, the hassle of driving the trailer back and forth each time is avoided :headbang:

On the subject itself, I don't mind towing but prefer to save the 30 minutes and fuel each way with storage out there. the 79/I-10 route is maybe 5 miles shorter for me but I exclusively go through the 79/78 Ocotillo route and prefer those Scissors Crossing switchbacks to the idiots on the 10 freeway, especially when towing.
