Any GM Techs, Automotive Guru's...

ya that's a complete strut "assembly" which means it comes with a new spring and upper strut mount. This means the tech just bolts it in as a complete unit. We have seen these Quick struts come with some inferior components and stopped using them. Could be that the manufacturer used the wrong spring when the unit was built. The strut mount looks correct. My bet is on the wrong spring.
Or one-size-fits-all spring rates for every trim of that car.

Ok, I went to the Chevy dealer by my work because this is driving me nuts.
The tech said we usually only replace the strut as the coil is your ride height and that shouldn't change.
He took a look at my pics and said, yeah...that was way too high, most likely the wrong coil. Ask the shop if they have your old parts, replace the coil with the stock one.
Or put my old shit back on and I'll take it to the dealer for the redo!

SMH

Yep. 100 percent.

And I'm not saying this, because I was a dealership tech for ages...

I'm saying it because that's the way it SHOULD be done!

If they threw all your old shit away...

Cancel the CC payment to them and document EVERYTHING.

Cause now you're gonna have to buy all new struts, springs and all the related mounting components.

I'd get some Bilstein's and Eibach's, if it was me. 😎

If he authorized the work order with those parts listed on it, not a huge leg to stand on as far as canceling payment, all that.

Doesn't mean he has no recourse. Rather than go ballistic, I'd just firmly state the ride height is unacceptable, and to return it to OEM height. Whether with old springs with new shocks, or another solution, it's not acceptable until it appears stock. I doubt that the work order said "Camaro 1.5" lift suspension kit" on it anywhere, so that's the hill to die on. :D

Totally agree.

Would be nice to see what the work order says, that he put his signature on?

And I definitely wouldn't go all @MWB on them. There needs to be a peaceful discussion on what everyone's expectations were/are, first.

We both know they put those assemblies on, cause they were too lazy to do the job right, but who knows what the part after "customer states..." could be.

Stay tuned...I drop it off tomorrow morning.
I have spoken with the owner and I am not taking the aggressive route, just more of the concerned that something is off, and this is my wife's car.
I need to know she's safe and confident since she drives a lot.
Basically, the car came out looking different than it went in, and that shouldn't be!
The owner is cool, he said we'll figure it out and take care of it.
Still, I hate being in this position!

Sucks for sure. I'm sure you have tons of stuff you'd rather be doing. Especially this time of year! 🌲

Oh, when I dropped it off, the tech had that attitude and look of WTF are we doing to this????
Can someone else go get this for me so I don't have to go over there?
LMAO!

Sheesh!!!!

OK folks...the saga continues....but it is done????
NOPE!!!!!
Picked up the car...seemed to be at the right height....I drive about a mile away and pull over just to look at it.
Seemed fine, the brakes felt different, not in a bad way though. Hmmmmm.
Also, there seemed to be a little negative camber in the front wheels. Steering wheel is slightly off center now too!
WTF?
I'm done, I'm not even going back there.
The owner text me how's the car, I say it's is sitting correct. Did you guys adjust the brakes...they feel better!
He said there was a leak in one of the brake lines and they replaced it. Cool Thank you! Didn't even bring up about the neg camber, I'm not going back to that shop...I'm over it!

I just got off the phone with the tire shop by my house that I use for her car...set up an alignment and new pads!
I swear...How could this project get so out of whack????

Learned a lesson.

Devils advocate here, now nothing personal just my opinion.

The issue of being hesitant of confrontation is an issue in todays culture. Not wanting to tell a man he did something wrong and holding him accountable to fix it does nothing to help. We as a society let business and people get away with this behavior and they continue it. Taking advantage of customers with little mechanical knowledge. If we hold them responsible for their actions and address issues as adults calmly with rational thinking we could all become better humans.

I battle this in the building trades as most don't want to confront others and tell them they are doing something incorrectly. To create a better worker/person as fellow man you need to coach and correct others. Fuck some kid gloves, man up and hit issue head on as adults.

Yeah, but I will say I am thankful for the fix with the break line. I'm chalking this up to an experience and I think both party's learned a lesson???
I'm gonna walk from this and move on. I also don't want to ruffle feathers too much since it is my sister-in-laws cousin and make things bad for them!
Is that the right approach??? Maybe not and like you say, maybe I should keep calling them out but after taking the car back there 3 times and it isn't really perfect, I'm just done!
It is a pain for me to get back there, so I'm gonna acknowledge and move on.
It takes a lot for me to complain about something unless it is so blatant like when I first picked up the car, I had to call them out on that.

You have been a fuck Ton nicer than I would have been.

But, i also don't know what you approved and signed for. 🤷‍♂️

The good news is, when those struts go bad in a year or so, you'll have saved up enough money for a Real strut/spring kit!

👍🏼👍🏼

Lesson learned, family and or bro deals can go south, the willingness to resolve an issue like this, and then see these folks in the future is where the struggle is.

Cars can be fixed, move on to the next shop. Now if they effed up something in the process....drop the hammer and take them to court for the $$$ of their damage done.

Dbart is one of the nicer guys I ever met on the internet...it's because we were both "Rhino-Bros".
