75' Sanger SuperJet - remodel

couple more progress items good and bad

Good; connected the battery and tested all the electrical. Only one mixed up wire and I blame the instructions... Bilge is a 2-wire setup one for direct to battery and auto float, second for manual switch. Well I got it backward so it was running non-stop. Easy fix swap at the connector and bam works as it should.
All the little fab work is coming out great!

Bad; F me and starters, this is the fourth starter (from last boat) and it's bad..... bumped the key to test and it bumped one time and then crapped out

Oh but these stainless HARD lines are awesome, my neighbor is killing it. I love how it looks.

great job, i did one a couple years ago, not near as much work as yours and after a year i lost focus and sold it. it was a barn find, been in a storage since late 80s. guys mom bought it for him for graduating highschool. he had cancer and his kids didn't want it. it was a taylor ss jet boat, 455. sure miss it now lol.
I tried to buy this RasonCraft from a "barn" OG owners since 68' had been in the garage since 87'. At least they let me pull it out, clean/wash it and get it to fire up. Then it went back into the garage probably till they pass. Then I hope the daughter lets us get it. Has a legit COPO AeroMarine 67' 427 in it. Found remains of a dead cat behind the gas tanks.

Got the hard lines 100% done last night, man I love how they look. Tanks set in but not 100%. Steering cable and helm almost sorted out.
Never looks like much in the pictures but man it's a lot of hours and work just get things to 100%

Yes it's an MSR kit. I got it from "Lefty" Brian Wilcox when he switched from BBC to LS. I was not impressed with the fitment on this kit.
#1 the bolt hole pattern was not 100%, we had to ream/adjust most of them
#2 the alternator was a mystery. I called MSR and they had no clue, just said stock GM or mini GM. We I tried everything "stock" nothing fit not even close. I finally found an alternator that was close both in hole spacing and the shape. We still have to elongate and cut away a fair amount of material to get it to fit.
#3 the upper bracket was setup for a coil pack. Again I called and asked and they said MSD HVC, so that's what I got and again not correct. The bolt holes were already drilled and tapped, one has a helicoil in it. Again we just drilled new holes and moved on.

I hope they have improved the template by now. I do love the low under alternator location, even with issues it all worked out and looks good.

Dang, that's a bummer... they had my ride up there and did the fitment and first install.

Boat is so close we are still waiting on parts now. Need cables, fuel and oil lines. We did get a lot done still.

Ride plate all built and installed. It down to these small parts that are ready to install when we install the interior.

Sanded 1000 grit, 2000 grit, cut compound and polished waxed the top side.

Waiting on parts.... :makerain:

NICE, came out looking really sweet...

That came out awesome!! Congrats man! Don't forget the videos! Would love to hear it!

Test and tuned, and a awesome weekend on Lake Success. Only major issue is we burnt down the headers, they warped, cracked and leaked from pin holes at some welds. On a mission to find new ones now.

Wow great thread! My neighbor at my shop is restoring his boat as well.. Not the extent you are but is going through the whole thing.. I epoxied his engine bay to clean it up. Can't wait to see the first river trip of your boat.
