No loyalty currently

currently we have

bmw

vw

2 Chevy

Jeep

ford

This got me thinking and I thought I would list what I've owned and what my wife has owned by brand.

Me: Ford and Chevy

Wife: Toyota, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Chevy, Mercedes Benz, Jeep, Ford, BMW, Dodge, Acura, Cadillac, Pontiac, Lincoln, and maybe a couple others I can't remember.

One of us has a problem!!

With all the fun, speed and excitement I've had in my Nissan Armada and my 2 Dodge Rams (one of them deceased), how can I ever say anything negative about these 2 brands?  I'm with them all the way!!

Even TONIGHT, I was off-roading in my 2021 Dodge Ram 2500, and I wasn't being careful with it.

Having been in the industry for going on 30 yrs now... Top   Lexus... bottom.... BMW..... everyone else is in the middle...  a Jeep is a Jeep is a Jeep....enough said.  Benz is nice, Audi is just an extra way to throw away cash... Ford/dodge/chevy have been chasing the Japanese since the 80s.... Subaru's actually do hold up in accidents... Nothing Beats Tonnage .... what is true in the ocean is true on land... tonnage ALWAYS wins.

In 1972 I bought my first Prickfor, the service / support was unsurpassed and the quality on par with all the major competitors.

There's engineering, and there's materials.  More of one means you need less of the other.

These days, the Japanese have fallen behind Ford/Dodge/Chevy unless you're only considering reliability, but it's not like cars won't make it to 150k+miles these days (and not many these days keep a car they bought new that long).  It's easy to make something reliable when you're still making the same chit you introduced in 2006.  Hell, Tacomas still have 6 speed transmissions and use a 3.5L V6 to make 278hp, and it really hasn't changed much since 2005.  Nissan juuuuust updated the Frontier for the first time since 2005, and it was behind the competition when it came out.  Only place the Japanese the Americans lead is sport compacts, but no one buys these cars anymore.

I've been contemplating a Chevy Cruze or some other shitbox with a poor reputation as a daily commuter...  Mainly because since it's a shitbox, I can push shopping carts out of spots with the bumper and not care, and everyone thinks they're shitboxes so they're practically free.

2004.5 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Duramax

2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Duramax (Current)

2024 GMC Sierra 2500 HD AT4 6.6 Gas (On Order)

Yeah, trucks...I'm a GM guy!

In 1972 I bought my first Prickfor, the service / support was unsurpassed and the quality on par with all the major competitors.
At least you weren't foolish enough to buy it's predecessor, the buttfor. That one was really just one big piece of crap.

By the numbers:

7 Nissans

6 Fords

1 BMW

1 VW

Was a Nissan guy.  Never would I consider one in any way, shape or form today however.  French ruined that company.

I remember that car, you pulled up to me at the park and offered me Free Candy and to Pet yore Puppy.

Good times.

My 97 yr old mom got  hit like that in her Subaru.... she was banged up but basically walked away...car was 2ft shorter on the driver side...the honda that hit her was totalled as well.

48 vehicles since 2009 all Ford except 4 Jeep wranglers

I’ve worked for Ford for a loooong time

up next 2 more fords and a Porsche lol hopefully

I've been a Ford guy my whole life. My 05 SD has 340K on the clock and like all diesels needs occasional maint but I've well gotten my money's worth out of it. We've had 2 Fusions, 07 and 14 both great and my wife's 19 Explorer has also been great. I bought a nee F150 Lariat in 2020 based off this experience and will probably never buy another new Ford after the issues I had with that truck. I really like the new SD's but can't get past the known CP4 and 10spd trans issues that they refuse to address. I'll probably just drive my 05 till it  can't be driven anymore :dunno:

I love cars, but I am starting to have brand loyalty. Always believe in being a chevy guy especially for my old schools. For trucks I was a die hard Dodge (RAM) guy, great MPG, but rough ride and shi^ty seats, then I bought a duramax or 2 and that damn front suspension went out and PS pump took a crap and left me stranded. Finally said F it and went and bought a new F350 dually and was amazing. When I sold my 5th wheel and went moho I sold my dually to fellow duner, then bought a F250 tremor. Love the trucks. I am looking for a new F450 to help tow/move stacker and 3 car hauler. I was offered a new ram dually and it was a nice machine but I truly just enjoy my Ford better than the ram.

Now I have had Benz, Bentley and truly love my 7 series BMW. Truly the ultimate driving machine. they just float and handle the mountains like a dream. I have had 3 of them in the past 10 years.  My wife is weird she had a range rover and chose to go back to the kia sorento for her family wagon. it is a nice car, cheap on gas and even cheaper car payment for me so I am happy. I lease her cars because she/the family needs a new car every 3 years because the kids trash cars.

All cars have advanced so much these days it really is hard to settle on 1 brand but those are the ones we choose for now.

I've never been one to have any loyalty to car brands or any brands for that matter.

Back in the Fall, I bought my wife a Mercedes (GLE class).  Never owned one before, never gave them much attention.  We looked at and drove every high end brand/model out there and went with the Mercedes.  We really thought we were going to get a Maserati but it just felt like and looked like a car 10-15 years behind the power curve.  Living in Havasu, there was no way I'd ever need a 150 MPH plus car.

It did not take long or me to really take to this car.  It drives great, comfortable, hits or exceeds every mark.  I've never said I "feel safe" in a car but this car makes you feel that way.  While this is a new car, when it's time, we both believe we'll most likely end up with another Mercedes.

Anyone have the same opinions or experiences with your cars?
Come back to this when out of warranty repairs are needed.  You'll be back to domestic or Japanese.

I grew up a GM guy because my dad said so.. My career with Honda steered me a different direction.

I currently have 3 GM vehicles, 2 Jeeps, and a Honda, well 2 if you count my TRX.

If I had to own one, and only one.  Honda.  No seconds guesses, not for a second.

While my family members may own many different makes among them, nearly all have a Honda in the fleet..
