1964 Dodge A-100 Hot rod sort of rat rod build thread.

We were going to run this thing just on the spring but I decided to add a holley boost controller to it. So yesterday I tore the wastegate all apart and put the green 7 lb spring in. So at least if the boost control ever fails it'll just revert back to the spring.

Who built that engine??

Made some thin 18 gauge steel straps that fit inside the lips of the cooler. Cool part is now the fan and shroud are captured and stay attached after I remove the 8 bolts. Bolts will all be part of the bracket to bolt it in the truck as well.

Well I'm struggling how to mount this oil cooler. This is the last space I have to mount it. Right now the way it is sitting on the wood blocks it will draw fresh air and suck up through. But that fan is about 2 to 3 inches away from the bottom of the truck. So it is going to blow all that hot air against the bottom of the truck and past the battery and air pump for the bags. I also feel like I need to make a perforated screen in front of it to let air through but yet stop that tire from kicking road debris up and damaging the fins. The only other option is to flip this thing over and suck air down from that little hole. I don't see that cooling very well.

Also, won't the fans kick up dust and dirt from ground. That wouldn't be good.

Very true. But this will be on a toggle switch and I will manually control it once engine oil hits 190°. If I'm in a area with dust I can just turn it off. Although I really won't be driving this into Dusty areas other than maybe driving on to the grass at Good guys in scottsdale.

Well after some more deliberation and talking to one smart feller who is a member on the board here. I think I'm going to go this route. Mount it at an angle and have it suck from that little triangular area behind the front tire. Pull air down and away. Plus I'm not pushing 220° air up against all my wood floor of the truck and the battery. Spencer is not here today but he had told me the same thing. Now the question is how low do I make the front edge of the fan.

Full assembly came in at 13 lb. Early on one of my buddies said this truck will probably get up to 4,000 lb. He might just be right. Lol. I think the cooler Will survive and get plenty of fresh air.

This thing might actually turn into a functioning truck. Just about done with all the Fab work on the truck. Then lots of plumbing and wiring.

And of course now just realize I will have to drop the tank about 3 in to let that cradle drop to get the rear tires out. Probably a 5-hour job now.

Probably will be easier to just drain the tank and remove the damn thing versus fighting and letting it hang down 3 in. Kind of figured this anyway. Hopefully I won't be putting rear tires on it that often. Although........

New version of the graphic with the color toned down to match the exterior. Should have this back this week. I like it.
