1964 Dodge A-100 Hot rod sort of rat rod build thread.

Took as much of the box away as I could. Now I have room for a front piece for the roll bar going across and the steering. I'm also thinking about mounting a panel that all the electronics attached to including computer, relays, fuse panel, amplifier, etc. I used red loctite and silicone both on those screws so they never come loose. I had to use the shrinker stretcher on the corners to suck in the material. Good thing I didn't have to make this pretty. And it is all hidden.

I feel like I'm far enough along I want to try take this thing to Good guys a year from now November. I figure another 1000 to 1500 hours.

Check out this New Old stock timing set I had found upstairs in some of our old parts. I'm guessing late 60s looking at the graphics on the box. As far as I can remember we have always been direct with Cloyes even since the shop opened in 66. So badass.

Both main panels glued and completely welded in. Other than a couple spot welds. And now I need to weld in that end cap. That was a whole ton of little spot welds with a MIG turned way down. I had to go along the edges of the layers of the floor and well done as well. I think I welded for at least 3 hours straight today.

Bought me a super cool piece of wall art. Hundred bucks plus $60 to ship it. I'm not sure how they shipped it for 60 bucks but I will take it. Love it.

That was a barrel of fun today. Got er done without breaking the window. Been under the weather and had to list a house this week so didn't get a heck of a lot done. This should be the only place that I touch the exterior body of the truck. Not sure how I want to seal that hole or cavity around the roll bar once it comes through. It has to be quite a bit larger to allow the roll bar to move in and out to get everything welded.

Found more on the little green wagon that wrecked. To bad.

Keep chopping away around those front tires. Still struggling how to put all this back together up front. On a fun note I got to bend my first piece of tubing today. That was fun.

So, from the picture, and can't really tell, will you be able to remove the motor between those?
That whole rear roll bar section including the x-brace will have these four connectors in it. So it will be removable to get the motor in and out. You can see my pencil marks on the x-brace. I purposely made it too big so I need to cut it down to fit.

I used the mig and very slowly spot welded four or five spots at a time. Jumping around so I didn't introduce too much heat anywhere. Not pretty but gets the job done. Now comes sanding and metal finishing. Slap a little putty on it and smooth it out. One of my guys has built lots of cages so he will get to take over and help me finish this cage up.

The short little extender pieces were for alignment only. They will get cut off.
