Kawasaki released the Teryx 4 H2 today! 250HP

I was talking to my buddy Chad Nelson about these yesterday, and I asked him what he'd buy if he was buying new.. One of these or a Can Am or Pro R.. He instantly said Can Am, and said they are having a lot of problems with the Kawi's..

Kinda took me by surprise to be honest?

Did Chad say what problems they are having with the Kawasaki? I do know one blew an engine and we have seen some belts blow and wipe out the outer CVT cover. But I have not heard much after that.

I hope someone figures out how to quiet up the supercharger chirping all the time. Not so sure if it can be?

Yeah but beating the shit out of them when they are fresh has more to do with longevity of the machine rather than breaking something instantly..

This right here.

I always take my time to break in my toys and I seem to have the most reliable of them all... no matter the brand.

When the Artic Cat Wildcat came out, my brother bought one. He got to Glamis before us so he was running it around as we showed up. What I jumped out of the truck to was someone trying to be Curt LeDuc and literally "NEVERlifting" his foot from the gas pedal almost the entire time he was in that $17,000 machine. Lots of commentary was laid down from various sources as to how that's not the best practice, right out the box. Guess how many issues he had with that Toy? All of 'em. He would break belts from Camp to the base of the Dunes... replace that belt and then break another one on the way back to camp.

I got an XP4 900 soon after and took my dear sweet time breaking that thing in for WEEKS. No hard accelerations, just cruise the fucking thing. I had almost ZERO issues with that toy in the SIX YEARS that I owned it. A coolant hose broke on one ride and my OG Belt FINALLY broke around 2200 miles. I led Sand Cars through the Big Dunes, took it to Idaho up the Steep shit, ran it hard in Ocotillo and the high Washes in Glamis at 75 mph routinely and it just kept running amazing. No clutch issues, nothing!

It does matter... all of my toys show this.

Just turn up the music in the helmet and you won't hear it.

From what I have seen thus far the belt going boom and taking out the CVT cover was self inflicted and the motor who knows what happen.

Seen videos of guys taking them out in the trails back east, guys rock crawling and some dunes in Utah. Once Glamis/desert season starts we will see if there are belt issues and other issues that come up.

I think we will see what issues arise as more people get their hands on them. I would not expect any major issues with the Kawi. There is a lot of upside to the H2 and once Evo gets the tunes sorted out with clutching it is going to produce gobs of HP.

I take it Chad has not driven one yet.

I am sure his former youtube buddy will get the new Kawi and put it through the ringer.

Chris Griner got to drive one the other day and he said the thing is lights out bad ass

Yup. Not sure why some are complaining so much.
I hope you’re right and it just sounds louder and more often on the GoPro vs actually being in the car. But I have spoke to a few who did the Kawasaki media demo in Plaster City and a couple made a comment about it going off more than expected and it did not seem to like mid throttle at 40-50mph in small bumps or chatter as it was constantly blowing off like it did not know what to do.

Maybe if it was connected lower in the intake tube closer to the engine and maybe if the intake was some how baffled or insulated, maybe that would help? Some how the auto industry makes them quieter?

But the good news if you like it, your good how it is.

Low and slow for a full tank of gasoline. Lots of heat to cool to heat cycles.
That theory has served me well. Even new rifles. Heat them up, let them cool, repeat. Learned that in the Marine Corps.
Even the Harbor Freight Generators made out of chocolate, low load, heat and cool cycles for the first 100 hours.

It's far less annoying than the constant drone from the CVT cars, and even this car didn't sound all that bad! 😁

Go pros and cameras are strange animals indeed.. you can record the most sketchy shit ever and it looks like pebbles and mole hills on camera.. for some reason things you can barely hear like a truck driving by is amplified by 10 on the audio and you can quite literally be screaming your message into a camera and it will barely pick up.. lol.

The suspension as he is going through the whoops looks awful bouncy. Does anyone know if this model has live valve or the standard manually adjusted suspension? A couple clicks of compression and rebound both should help out at its current weight. If it is live valve, calibration is off.
The current model released is the 5 seat deluxe and is Live Valve only. A few shock tuners have said the rear shock inner bypass sleeve holes are not in the best places, and replacing the sleeve with different hole positions makes a huge difference. Fronts were said to be good.

Talking to the people at Kawasaki at the Sand Show, they commented on the cars suspension was tuned with the weight of 4 passengers in the car. So maybe if you added 200 lbs to the back seats it might be better? I don’t know, they just mentioned that how they tuned it.

Also paddle tires weight & how they bite seem to make the cars ride differently. I rode in a friends Pro turbo and it rides really nice in the desert hard pack whoops, but when I road in it in the sand whoops with paddle tires, the car just felt different. But maybe he was not running it as hard or maybe harder? I don’t know??
