If the skid plates are off, what’s it look like under it? How’s stuff run through the chassis, how’s the driveline look.
Maybe show or share an opinion of the suspension mounting tabs on the chassis. Do they look weak and maybe need a bolt on support kit? Look robust and not necessary? Do the same and show the rear suspension points too.
How does oil changes and servicing look?
If anything else found of interest, share that too.
We went out and did a Facebook Live video with it this morning, but the problem with the live....once its over...its over. It was cool to run through it though.
It is VERY similar to an X3.
- Battery behind the passenger, just like the X3 setup.
- Hood removal was just like the X3 and looked very similar under there.
- Rear plastics looked really easy to remove. Just a handful of torx screws and it pops right off. It looks like CF has it set up pretty well for an OEM cargo box that will probably drop soon. We didn't get a chance to remove them on the video, but it looks pretty basic.
- Dash: we didn't get to yank the dash, but it looks pretty easy to remove a panel in front of the hood and get behind there. Not a ton of room, but enough. Again...just a handful of torx screws.
- Rack looks like the X3s
- Diff looks nice and the front prop looks stout. Very similar to the X3. Diff is also very easy to access and remove.
- Front many need some kind of bulkhead or frame stiffener for the mud guys with big tires.
- It does have a full coverage "skid?" of sorts. It is very thin molded plastic, but it covers the entire belly. There are plenty of access points under the skid for easy servicing. It can also be removed in sections for more access. DEFINITELY needs a beefier skid for rock crawling though. Its pretty thin.
- Service should be simple. Its all very well thought out and laid out. Everything is easy to access.
- All suspension tabs "look" pretty thin, but they are all double-shear so we'll see there. Personally, I'd want to beef up all the mounting points. It looks thin. - The stock axles look pretty weak for bigger tires. Small CVs and small splined shafts.
- The screen is awesome. Huge! And the Apple car play is going to be super nice.
- Looks pre-wired for an OEM stereo, but we didn't dig deep enough to look for wires. Ready for door speakers and tweeters in the dash.
- VERY little room for rocker switches. I think you have 2 switch locations available. Any more and you'll need a switch-pro.
- You definitely need some kind of aftermarket storage. There is zero storage on the stock machine.
- Seats and cab are really nice. More like Polaris. Seats are comfortable and set up for harnesses.
- Not sure how much I like the dead pedal yet. I didn't get to drive it, but I'm sure it'll beat your left knee up without a bag on the door.
Overall, its a killer machine for $20k. There's a whole lot of bang for the buck.
My biggest complaints
- Zero storage
- Room for only 2 rocker switches. No room in the dash.
- We'll see how the axles hold up
- We'll see how the frame tabs hold up
I'll try to get some pics of these spots next week.
