Uh, no. Steerable axle on the front will absolutely EAT tires. This is an afterthought because is wasn't built right, or was unsuccessfully repurposed...
Was this before people could do load math? It looks like the tongue has a radial pivot point to allow it to "float" between it and the tow rig. Alleviating tongue weight.Competitive used to build all kinds of crazy shit. I saw a stacker they did where they matched the stainless siding on a provost..

Only tongue weight is the tongue itself.I am trying to understand the point of the steerable front axle???
It's definitely weird. I assume they were trying to accomplish something similar to towing a Toad:Uh, no. Steerable axle on the front will absolutely EAT tires. This is an afterthought because is wasn't built right, or was unsuccessfully repurposed...

Which is rigidly connected in the exact same manner. I don't know of anyone who toads that eats tires though.
The biggest issue with a toad is backing up is basically unpossible. This isn't an issue with a Jeep since you can just drive it. Not so with a trailer.
My sister's Dad (Chip Prescott's Dad, Prescott racing) went to School at the Schoolhouse next door, in the 40's. He grew up in 29 Palms and that was his Playground. He took us to 29 Palms to ride 70's quite a few times, where they still had a 20' x 30' dilapidated Cabin from the 20's they all grew up in. Outhouse, and all.+1 for Roy's Cafe, Amboy CA on RTE 66.
TRAILER BRAKES FIRST!
Doubles with a dolly? Elite status. Doubles without? Pro status. My thought is they are trying to accomplish something like this and reduce or eliminate tongue weight!
Um...how's backing that thing up???
