Mac's Car Refresh

Coming along nicely!

Do you have a process you can share on wiring the CV bolts like that? I assume you would start with a single wire of "x" length and go through the first bolt, twist the end and extra length, then move to the next and so on?
So....I used to be an aircraft mechanic back when. We safety wired everything. I still have the special pilers to do it, even though you don't need them to do good wiring.

I don't see CV bolts as being critical enough to "X" them. This is just to keep them from backing out. I just run the wire through straight and twist from there. The key is to get the holes on the number of bolts to pull against each other to "tighten" the bolts and keep them from loosening up.

Other things to watch for, don't over twist or snug the twist too tight as it makes the wire brittle and it will break or easily break. I'd also only stick to 2 bolts at a time. If you do multiple bolts patterns...Murphy's law says you'll break the wire on the last bolt and have to start over...:ROFLMAO:

The big thing I learned from my transmission guy was most of the CV bolts out there are too long. You need to make sure the bolts don't dig into the trans case or seal. I had to take a 1/16" off all my bolts on the trans side for clearance.

It’s easier to just let the sand you didn’t fully clean out of there work as “loctite” you know… :ROFLMAO:

Wow, yore dialing this in 100% to be yore forever car....

Looks great.

And here I thought we'd get you a back up car to not miss another season....it's got yore name on it, just down the road from yore casa.

Taking some time off has been good.

I could have whipped through this rebuild but it's been nice taking my time and getting it right. I would have always had issues with this and that had I rushed it. And let's be real, I could not have fronted the cost all at once. This has been like building a new car from scratch.

That's awesome.

So the story behind it...Our family is direct descendants of the first king of Scotland. I haven't been able to find our tartan. A few hundred years later, the monarch came up with the Scottish Royal Standard. When I started going to Glamis and needed a whip, I chose the Scottish Royal Standard. I've never seen anyone else fly it so...it's mine. When thinking of something for the headrest, this seemed fitting.

Losing a season to not have to fuck with things for a decade or more is probably worth it. Still nautical levels of gay, but I guess I'll let it slide since I don't camp with you anyway. :ROFLMAO:

That was Senior Rockwood's beer of choice when I was growing up. Saw your seats and immediately brought me back to ye olde 80s pizza dinners at the Round Table. LOL.

Challenge accepted. I'll bring @HozayKwarvo 's DI voice and a lot of liquor along with me.

That was the go-to beer for when I was in High School and now that I know MAC is somehow connected it makes perfect sense...

When we were in High School we use to say that the Lowenbrau was the greatest beer in the world until you got down to where the foil ended then it was miserable. So like MAC everything is great at first but before you know it you wish you had picked another beer
