Didn't Suzuki/Kawi/Honda do this with big sport bikes? Handshake agreement that XXXmph was fast enough....
 
You drive on the street with cars that all go 90+. Not sure exactly what the chassis design of the MavR is but the ProR has a full 2" tube chassis.

The Japanese and European motorcycle manufacturers came to the conclusion as a group that speeds were getting out of hand for street bikes and limited their top speeds stock to 186 mph. It was the Hayabusa that started the talks. BMW and Ducati both make models that break that agreement.

Personally I believe 85 MPH is plenty fast for any of these units right off the showroom floor for any Tom, Dick, or Harry to drive at that speed right off the trailer without any real experience.

If one wanted to increase the speed limit of their units after they have purchased, they can do so either electronically or mechanically (gearing) and accept the responsibility of those decisions and any poor judgement that could arise from misuse of those decisions.

This would be way better than government getting involved. This is starting to get out of hand for the sign and drive people they are scary enough at 40 to 50 mph. I am down to a turbo s now and I can tell you for a fact I felt safer in my sandcar at 85 than I do in the sxs at 60
 
If you want to talk about poorly designed frames and lack of safety equipment see this and people that are going to kill themselves.

Even in that day and age, the SXSs were tearing up the dunes, look and see.

Bonus points if you know who the girl in the white bandana is.
