I was thinking the same, it was breaking up pretty badly while he was in the air.Not only that but i don't think the bike sounded at it's optimum performance.
RIP
man, hell of a way to go.
If they had made the landing area 4' or 5' lower...I thought the same thing when looking at it. The ramp looks flat. Go back and look at his IG pictures of the ramp from a week ago is different and it looks to lip up.
I bet they changed it thinking it’s to high, or it would put him at a bad angle to land it. Look at the two pictures from earlier in the week, then a picture of him taking off the ramp on his jump attempt. Almost looks like two different jumps.

I think what you were hearing was the engine pinging off the rev limiter as he was doing all he could to rotate the bike to get the front up and more height. Rear wheel spin rotates the front up, hitting the rear brake brings the front down. He was on the pipe trying to rotate the front up. I’m sure once he left the ramp he knew he was in trouble.I was thinking the same, it was breaking up pretty badly while he was in the air.
RIP.
DistanceWhat was the record attempt? Distance? Landing looks really tall but maybe just perspective.
