I'm really surprised by this too, DW has been around long enough to at least know event permitting is required
Same with Merlin doing a gathering of OG sand buggys and birthday bash, got busted, but they didn't make everyone leave
 
It was why the EPO's stopped. Did it one time through the permit process and that was enough.
Not to say it was the last one though:sneaky:
 
The last thing Glamis needs is more events, DW started as a Social Media page, and now Nick has built a business around it, great for him. I am pretty much over trying to bring more uneducated people to the dunes, we have enough...........

Question, How many people came to Glamis because they saw it somewhere vs a Buddy brought them.

We were brought in the 80's, were hooked after 1 trip (first trip in sand and small dunes was actually White Water).

How much does todays Social Media actually account for folks coming to Glamis? I will say it sparks interest and hypes up a person to go more then they might otherwise, not sure it brings newbies in. Interesting topic.

DW SM pages "Glorifies" all the stupidity 100% agreed there.

No idea if Social Media brings more people or not, but it certainly glorifies the stupidness.

I started going to the dunes in 1990, Comp was insane and entertaining. But I had already been off roading for nearly 20 years before that, I was taught how to camp and off road responsibly before I every went to the sand.

The debauchery isn't just at Glamis, it is everywhere now, the lack of respect for everything will eventually get it all closed down and the next generation will only have Disneyland for fun...........Sorry for my Friday morning rant, back to regular schedule programming.
 
I was actually surprised when I saw the event pop up since so many have been shut down in the past. Not sure how they missed that - its not like they are new
 
At the end of the day, how many more "Views" and 'Clicks" were accomplished.

Highly doubt it was planned, but mission accomplished for a SM Page.

My wife does that on accident all the time. She never proofreads anything. Just hit the send button and then two more texts after explaining what she wanted to say. 😄
 
My understanding is if you do it on the store property you wouldn't need a permit however you would have to rent the space from the store.
I have done two separate events. They were both demo rides. One was in the vendor area and I payed the store for the space. Second was outside the stores property and I had to deal with the BLM.

@MWB Luckily we don't post about our Annual trip. It is kind of set in stone every year at a certain time and every 5th year it switches to another "place of sand"
