I mostly quit for years as well. Then my boy got old enough to enjoy it and I jumped back in. Sure enjoy the relaxing nature of it nowadays.I don't fish often any more, but used to....
Mostly stream trout
Kern River all the way up to Peppermint creek
Bridgeport area
Went to Alaska a couple years back at "Aleknagik Island Lodge" you fly into Dillingham (Agolawalk river, wood river, Snake river) was really fun for what we did. I won two of the derby prizes largest silver salmon (technically a green jack salmon) and rainbow trout.
Sounds like a great time! Looks like a center console?Thank you! Yes mostly ocean fishing and exploring. Kids love searching for dolphins & seals too.
Looks nice!Kids and I love to go trout fishing at the local lakes. I enjoy fishing late nights at the Oceanside pier also.

Damn that’s some cats!! When I was a boy we did a lot of cat fishing. I can’t say I’ve caught a good one in over 30 years…We have a lease on a sand bottom river for catching catfish. Very secluded and quiet. Cooking over the fire, heated outdoor shower, float trips and lots of good friends!. The biggest catfish in this picture was 25#.

Been a bucket list of mine for quite some time. My pops and I have been talking about it for years. Went to Alaska in my early teens and did the chaos of salmon fishing. Told ourselves if we did it again, it would be through a lodge. Was originally going to do it for 2021 but wanted to give the pandemic time to clear to not have any hiccups. That’s a nice area. I’m not familiar with that lodge but anything along the outer west and north coasts is usually great fishing. I go to Waterfall resort every August which is on Prince of Wales and we almost always limit on Coho and King each day. The halibut fishing is not that great though and the crazy reverse slot thing when your on a charter is a PITA.
What are you mostly fishing for? Those look like some big reels!Kayak fisher here, mostly La Jolla, sd bay, or occasionally the sd River. I sold my smaller kayaks and mostly just stick with the open water anymore. On that yt hunt lately, but been out for close to a month due to some back issues. Ah well, I’ll be back on the water soon enough. I just got my live well back up and running, so keeping that fresh bait on hand will be much easier

Depends on the day man. When rockfish first opens its game on. Always hunting for yellowtail though, even in the winter months there’s homeguard yellows that are too lazy to go south so they hang out here and get fat. Halibut, sheephead, lingcod, White Sea bass if you’re lucky enough to find a ghost, or my personal eating favorite, sculpin. Don’t get me wrong, yt or bluefin are great eats, but I have a thing for sculpin tacos. What are you mostly fishing for? Those look like some big reels!
Put a couple of my guys on one of my clients charter boats.
They worked the front side of Clemente and did good.
that’s a good day there. I got a chance to hang out on the East side of San Clemente once, and it was super rad. Didn’t do fishing, but I was able to go snorkel about and bring a speargun. Didn’t spear anything either, because I didn’t have a way of storing or cooking that day, but had fun nonetheless
Dang that’s a lot of options lol! Living by the ocean has its percs I guess!Depends on the day man. When rockfish first opens its game on. i try to do a fish fry every week or two in my driveway with my son. He loves fish tacos, as do I, with the added bonus of Neighbors coming by to have some beer and enjoy some fresh fish.
