Just looking to get some opinions, if you had a $20k budget. What is the best quality 5th wheel toyhauler you'd look at?  Add-ons or upgrades don't apply, just looking for a solid trailer that won't fall apart.

$20,000 fifth wheel? Quality?

I was shopping for fifth wheels all summer. Finding anything under $70,000 was hard.

Anything in your budget will be 15-20yrs old and be questionable.

Older is fine. I know the market is crazy right now just trying to find something for the season.

Also, I know it's a wild concept but I don't want to finance

Dune chaser by Monaco.

Aluminum frame. Very well insulated.

Best RV fifth wheel I've owned. And been told the same by may others that own  and have owned them.

Craigslist. Has a aluminum sided weekend warrior. Be cautious of water leaks and sagging walls that can turn your 20k trailer into a 30k trailer quick.

I would look for an older Weekend Warrior that has had the frame issue repaired. My son has an 07 aluminum sided 35 foot LE Weekend Warrior and it is a solid trailer.

I look at it like owning a house. Except it has twice the plumbing and twice the electrical to go wrong. Plus don't forget tires. Those are always fun!

A wise man once told me,  "there all pieces of sh*t, find one you like and deal with it"
X2 here for sure.

They're all light weight piles of crap that spend half the travel time basically in an Earthquake going down the road rattling everything apart!

Thanks for the advice.  I started looking for a dune chaser or next level and stumbled across a 35' dune chaser owned by a client and good friend. Was able to pick it up under budget too!

2009 Dune Chaser 35sks

Pros:

Very little use

New awning

New mattress

Maintained well

Cons:

Generator doesn't run

Exterior needs buffed

Has 15" wheels

I don't have any pics of the trailer but here's what I'm pulling with.  I have a b&w companion hitch already and Firestone air bags

You should also consider toy your going to put in it.  Sand cars can get real wide as you know.  Also how much fresh water it holds, fuel station?   Generator are usually a simple carb replacement and always fresh fuel.

Nice!  Your truck is just like my old trucks twin.  Dune chasers are very nice.  $300-$500 should get it looking new with he right detailer.

If you're looking for E rated tires for the 15" wheels, the only decent ones i've found are the maxis M8008. They've treated me pretty well

Generator is probably just a bad carb, they're like $60 on Amazon.  I'd just order one up, it's not even worth messing around with your current carb.  I'd check on the fuel filter and pump for the genny too, but it's almost always the carb.

BTW, awesome truck, I looooooooove that color.  I have an '11 standard bed in silver:

You may want to upgrade to 16 inch wheels.  Mine was already done and the axles were flipped as well.

@SANDBAM was doing the upgrade last we talked. He may have some insight on whats needed or not needed on switching to 16's and what he was buying.

Congrats on the purchase. They are great trailers.  Love to see a photo or 2!!!

16" steel trailer rims are cheap why even mess with 15"s. On a 10 day trip, I spend more on beer and ice.

We have a Dune Chaser and we LOVE our trailer!  They are very well built.
