Where to go from here? CV’s

I placed my order with @parker@gearone on Friday around 9:30am. They showed up on my doorstep the following day! Someone in this thread says the Gearone Super CV’s were like jewelry on the car…and they’re right. The only problem with that was that as soon as I installed them, I had to begin cleaning up my whole car. The 2D was recently redone by Ron at Sand Car services and the cleaning process he does looks great next to the shiny new GKN Super CV’s from Parker. Man I love the sand community.

I ordered the CV kit that included 2 tubes of CV grease that Gearone mixed up and put into an incredibly convenient caulking tube. It was so freaking nice injecting the grease with the caulking gun instead of fingering a grease tube and poking it into the joints.
Thanks for the trust in our products, can’t wait to hear how they hold up.

Funny you should mention. The left side broke last trip with no apparent detriment to the left side CV’s. I stopped by shock therapy and picked up a new pair since the right side was the same age as the broken left side. The 22.5° was taken on the side with the older, stretched strap. There was right about 22° with the new strap.
22 degrees strapped is still a bit to long IMO. All straps have a percentage of stretch. So with stretch your CVs will still see 23.5+ degrees. Too much for a 930. You will get differing opinions. But if I were you I'd add a second strap, or reduce the length to closer to see 19-20 at full droop.

Thanks for your input! I should play with a shorter strap and see how much I’d lose. I’m extremely happy with the suspension as it is, it would be interesting to see what losing a couple inches of droop would do.

23* would be the absolute max. If it's at 22* now with a little but of backsweep, it's probably over 23* (which is confirmed by the damage).

You're not going to lose any travel anyway since your CVs were limiting travel (as witnessed by the cage). I'd pull some strap length out to accommodate for stretch when you jump or other high-speed suspension movements. There should be some stretch already in the strap now assuming you have preload in the springs. The "1 inch per foot" guideline is for purchasing straps, not to add to what you're currently seeing.

I'd droop the suspension, turn the brake rotor to manually feel for binding and raise the suspension until it goes away. Measure the distance between the strap mounts (hopefully you're using an adjustable clevis), take the "1 inch per foot of length" out, plus half an inch to be sure, re-test it, and ship it.
