When did you first go the Glamis?

199?
I don't remember the year. Johnny speed 1776 car, VW TFBB car.
Everything from yfz450 dirt bike, Banshee, 70's and a handful of Funcos since.

1974 I was 14 and my cousin took me and my ATC 90 to Glamis. Camped in the trees on road to Olds. Wet T-shirt contests at the old store. Been going ever since. Wouldn’t change a thing. No place like it anywhere

Gordons in 1985 or so - 70cc ripping the dry canal on the left before the bridge. I didn't go to Glamis until 2003ish as I always went to Gordon's with my family back in the day.

1968 or 1969 with my parents. Dad had just finished a manx style buggy and we went out with a bunch of the guys that he worked with. Almost Pre-threewheeler :ROFLMAO:
Camping on the side of the 78, getting your broken stuff fixed at dirty Bob's in the 70's good times

I grew up going to San Felipe, my dad had a Manx and a few 110s and his buddy had a sand rail and that was the normal trip a few times a year. Mexico started to change for the worst and they stopped going as much. 1994, my older brother who was 15 years older took me on our first trip to Gordon’s well. I was 10. My brother had a Honda 125 and a 250r 3 wheeler and we would tent camp out on the the flats. I can probably dig up some pictures soon to share. They are great memories of the best times of my life. I remember going up Test hill sideways on the 3 wheeler holding on to the back of my brother, SCARED TO DEATH. Looking back, those trips were the epitome of my life. I couldn’t barely touch the petals of the 125, my brother would hold the bike, let me ride around and catch me when I came back. So many of my memories growing up were out there in the dunes and I’ll never forget what that place has given me.
My wife grew up out there with similar experiences and that’s what drew me to her. Now we’re raising our 2 kids in the sand with hopefully the same good experiences.

Early 90’s was invited by a friend and took my IT200. Seized it in 1 hour going full blast everywhere. Saw olds and everyone had CR500’s and fast. Had no money so I bought a CR480. Thought I would kick everybody’s butt. I was still the slowest. That bike was a monster. Arm pump in 10 mins. Realized I was hooked and did everything so I could afford a CR500. Then came methanol, huge ports, huge carb, extended swingarm. Then I was the fastest bike at the hill. The rest is history

December 1999 was my first trip to Glamis. My brother in law took us out there and have not stopped going since then.

When I was a kid we used to go to Pismo but stopped going in the early 80s. Had a long break from the dunes until I went to Glamis.

First trip was TG 98. No toys at the time, but Comp was still Comp and a good time was had. Realized it would be a lot more fun if I had my own ride, so I bought a clean 91 CR250 and made it back out there for TG 99. Lots of fun times out there with several bike upgrades since then and I’m still kicking . . .

Thanksgiving week 2007, our honeymoon. We haven’t missed a thanksgiving since. My boys are 16&14 and know no other thanksgiving but a Glamis Thanksgiving.
I did Thanksgiving for almost 20 years. My parents/family didn't understand and hated it.

One year I was all loaded up and the last of my crew bailed out on going. F it. Left PHX about 4am, duned all day solo, hit the hill for a bit after dark, packed it up around 1am, and headed back home.

Thanksgiving 1996. I was 5 years old in kindergarten. My dad flat towed the CJ5 out behind his OJ Bronco.

I remember wall to wall people. People Camping along hwy 78.

I haven’t missed a season since. I wish my dad would come back out, but he has no interest.

1985/1986 season was my first year, bought a Suzuki lt250r quad. First trip out with it ran over my leg scarred my boot for life. Young rookie moves. I don’t remember how I got out there, I had no truck, no trailer. My family wasn’t into the desert, they had an Rv that I used until it blew up in about 1996, then I borrowed a new Rv for a few years still no trailer though, then I stepped up and bought a dually and a Santek box trailer from 1999-2004, then a 5th wheel warrior from 2004-2020, since then we’ve had two renegade toters.

My Dads buddy Willy (they worked together at CalTrans) took his sons (early 20s) to Glamis, invited us and we borrowed a couple ATC110s...it was about 1983 and I was in about 5th grade.

Within a year we had 2 ATC110s, ATC70 and an ATC200S. We also bought an old ass 70s Overlander Class A motorhome that could barely get there most times hahaha.
Grandparents, Aunt's, Uncles, Cousins, Cousins and even the workers that liked drinking with my dad would all join. Not uncommon to have over a dozen people in camp, only 4 ATCs and a MH that slept 5...
We hit all the major holidays and 3 day weekends, we always camp on Gecko, hell who even knew wash road and the washes existed? The GBS was the end of glamis to us.

Epic memories, I would never get over this new thing that was introduced to us.

In 1990 as a HS Senior I started taking my buddies to Glamis solo, just us guys.....it started all over again...a dozen guys and maybe 4 bikes at best....best of times.

1983. I was 21 yrs old and had a 1982 Honda ATC 250R. Had only been riding in the dirt. My now father-in-law invited me to Glamis with their club. Fell in love with the sand and had my first sand car built for the following season.

First trip to the dunes was 70 or 71 to Pismo with my Grandfather and Dads Fire Fighter Co-Workers. Dad had taken the body off a bug and turned into a Manx and Grandpa had a trail 90. Still remember him and his friend Monty drinking wine from a Boda bag. Dad broke the belt on the Manx and torched the motor, my mom and him had to walk out of the dunes and that was the end of that.

Fast forward till 92? a friend invited me to go and ride his 200X at Buttercup for Thanksgiving. Later in the year we went to Patton Valley with some guy's from work and by Easter I had my own 250R three-wheeler. My buddy had been invited by a guy he bowled with to go back to Olgilby/ Patton. We rode with that group once a month for a season or so. Then on one year for Halloween they wanted to dune from Patton to Glamis, but my Buddy brought his wife and she wasn't going to make the dune trip so we went down wash road instead. That was the first time, we went back that Thanksgiving and camped North of the 78 along Railroad tracks. Only have been back to the south dunes about three- or four-times sense

I went around 2012 for my first trip. Had never even really heard of glamis till my buddy told me about how is step dad and buddies go out in their big motorhomes and sand rails. I was spoiled my first trip. Stayed in a 45ft Moho and rode in a brand new funco. I was hooked.

Since then I am on my 3rd toy, went from a quad to a dirtbike and then to my rail and also 3rd toy hauler to fit everything.

Have made some great friends from going out there and this website and dont see myself stopping any time soon.

Thanksgiving 1989...went with my buddy and his family. They had (2) Suzuki 500 Quadzillas and (2) honda Fortrax 250, I rode one of those but did take a spin on one of the 500. Fun.
The group they hung with were the total ballers of the era off Gecko, Whitey Young, his daughter Kim who I went to school with was really fast on her ATC 250R with extended swingarm and everyone had custom leopard seat covers...polished aluminum everything. Whitey's Motorhome was the talk of the camp.
All their friends had polished aluminum rails with at the time big power...500hp ish. One of the cars, Blue Thunder had a TT acura V6 I believe...was pretty cool. Long travel stuff wasn't really in yet that I recall.
This was a world so foreign to me as I grew up Waterskiing and doing the boat thing...but I was hooked.
It would be about 11 years later till I got back but was with my own stuff. 2000 GMC Z71 and my 1995 YZ 250, a cooler and gas can.
Great times!

First Glamis trip ever; 1984.

My Dad had previously bought two Honda three wheelers in 1983; a BRAND NEW Christmas Edition ATC 70 for my brother and a 1979 ATC 110 for him and my Mom. We have an acre of land and we learned how to ride there.

In 1984, Parents were going through a divorce and my Mom met a neighbor, Wade Prescott (Owner of Allied Swiss in Oceanside/His son is Chip Prescott, Prescott racing) and he took us out to Glamis with his family. Chip rolled his 250R (as he always does) my first night there and that trip is when I discovered Honda made red 70's, not just Blue ones. We were camping across the road from Keyhole and about half the way through the first day, I ran into a kid on a Red ATC 70. We both rode over to each other and he looks at me and says, "You have a BLUE 70!" I responded with, "You have a RED 70!". That was the trip that I realized my Dad hooked my brother up pretty good. I later got a 1986 TRX 70, unfortunately it never made it to Glamis.

First Glamis trip (funded) by myself; 1996.

I had a 1984 200X by this time, same as my best friend Benjammin' (a lot of you have met him, he passed away in 2019). We loaded up a rental trailer onto my 4runner and took a New York Giant pizza out for the weekend, back when the phones were only able to call collect at the Beach Store. It was pretty cool leaving Rancho Buena Vista High School as a Junior with a loaded truck for G, at 17.
