I thought I had seen this discussion before but my search shows nothing.

I have a trunk wing and was interested in knowing what tool bag has worked for you and what tools you carry. I understand we can’t have everything but would be nice to gather as much as I can.

Do you use a bag or a roll up bag?

Do you strap it down in the wing?

How do you strap it?

I like the mastercraft tool bags. They have two straps you can mount with buckles.

Another option if you do not want to strap it in the wing is to wrap it up in a blanket so it doesn't bounce. Also nice to have the blanket on hand if you break down.

a screwdriver and a pair of good Channellock plyers all you need the dunes aren't that big that someone couldn't tow you out or go back to camp you get tools and parts. now on desert runs where your 75 miles from nowhere you need a real too kit

You should always carry a ratchet style tie down strap or two. Many, many uses when something comes loose or you need to strap something to limp out of the dunes.

Thanks for the input.
I will get a regular bag and store things in it. Probably place like 1/2 inch plywood to line the bottom of the wing for extra support and bolt some small d rings.

Any recommendations on a good “small” type of breaker bar to remove lug nuts?

I  like light cars, but I also like to be prepared....

Every tool is Harbor freight or Craftsman and Klein for electrical  (already donated some snap on to the dunes in my younger years...)

Under the seats I have :

A tow strap - because you can't fix everything

3 ratchet straps in zip locks - aka Heim and spindle temporary replacements

A zip lock with paper towel, rags, and a few tub o towel wipes in packets

I carry two PRP zipper  bags  - two are pretty small - I am wingless - so they sit behind my seats

Bag 1 - rollup of metric and US wrenches, adjustable, channel locks,  then I zip lock bag US and Metric Allen wrenchs,  4 way screwdriver, Dzus tool, tire plug kit,   a small 20ft roll of 14 gauge baler  wire, and racer tape

Bag 2 - Electrical - everything zip locked 2 rolls of wire (about 10 ft each, one 10g 1 16 gauge) an assortment of wire connectors and smurf hats, wire strippers, side cutters, crimpers, multimeter (free harbor freight), electrical tape, relay, assorted fuses, lots of Ty-raps

In our group someone always carries a LiON jump box and an air pump, and a couple quarts oil   - so I don't but its good to have those.

At camp we have starters, alternators, ECUs, Tires, wheels, Hubs, spindles, CV's whips, nitrogen, Mig, Tig, vise, and lots of power tools

The only thing that seems to break is what we don't have  ....

Thanks!

Those are perfect!

I get it being towed back is better at times. Have had a friend lose a caliper bracket on his RZR and we didn’t have any bailing wire. Used some duct tape and eventually that tore and lost the caliper. Oil spilled out and that’s when we found out the RZR has a safety mechanism which won’t let you start the car without pressing brake pedal.
No fluid = No start.

Luckily another RZR had some motor oil and we used that to fill the line and RZR started.

Thanks everyone for your input!!!!

Harbor freight tool bag.

8mm to 19mm wrenches

pliers

crescent wrench

multi screwdriver

wire,zip ties

allen wrences

spare cv and related tools

I would highly recommend making sure you have the appropriate tool to remove your axles, so if you blow yore ring and pinion the trans locks up you can pull yore axles and free wheel it while getting towed.

the things I would have done last season for a triple square bit 😅
