I think thatās a great looking car I would lotās rather have that than my last fancy a$$ 5 seater that I paid way to much for lolYep, when wifey has control you end up with something like this. But many times, they are worth it.

A lot of those people are at the mall or REI...For a second I thought I was back on the Overland forum where there are eleventeen threads daily about "defining Overlanding" or "what is an Overlander"...

I always laugh when I see a "Overland rig" that doesn't have pin-striping... you know they don't use it.Ā ĀA lot of those people are at the mall or REI...
:bag:
:lmao:
that worked for me for about 20 years,Ā every T-day in the dunes, then my kids had kids, familes of their own, not a lot of extra money or toys.Ā they all still love the dunes and make it out for a few T-days. but after that 20 year "Thanksgiving in the dunes" my wife has pulled rank and i have missed a fewĀWhen you first meet the new girlfriend's family and say (out loud mind you) that if we stay together you will never see your Daughter on Thanksgiving, ever... They thought I was absolutely kidding...hahahahahahaha, We have only had Thanksgiving with our "dune family" the last 14 years!!
CHP once told me a few miles past the BP Station "The Dunes will always be there....Slow Down" and that was my first thought reading yore post. I could not imagine in that scenario with the Grand Mal that you kept heading towards Glamis. My First reaction :angryfire:Thanksgiving week NOV 1997..........Contemplating Divorce with my kids Mother. Loaded up my parents MOHO and decided to contemplate on a Dune. Packed the trailer, headed to Mother Glamis. By myself. 22hrs on the road will allow your emotions to run wild. Woke up early morning, day 2 of driving coming into Tucson, AZ. Cranking the tunes when I see flashing lights in my mirror. Pulled over for??? Met the AZ State Trooper outside the MOHO. His first words...................are you Da chEFF A DA World? Thats when I knew I was in big trouble. Turns out, my daughter had a Grand Mal Seizure and was in the hospital. My Father was calling Texas / New Mexico / AZ and CA Police to locate me. Of course, he knew how to do that. 36 years in Law Enforcement will teach you that. The officer let me use his phone to call back home. Thats when the news was delivered to me. "What do you think I should do Dad?" Well Son, both Grand Parents are here, plenty of Doctors around. She looks like she's in good hands. I think you should continue on to the Desert. The Officer asked me if I needed an escort to the Airport. Told him "No Sir". He said OK, Do me a favor......."Whats that Sir?" SLOW DOWN.; Apparently I was on the gas. Met my bro sndsmplr in the washes and ripped a bunch of Dunes. He left T-DAY morning to pick up 1 Horsepower (His Wife) and I sat on OLDS HILL the entire T-DAY. By myself, Contemplating Life! I'd call that a Duner! PeaceĀ
Fair, but I think you're taking me a bit too seriously.Ā If you saw my truck and FWC from a distance, after a good detail you might laugh too because it looks that good/clean.Ā But if you get close, and know what to look for, you'll see all the evidence of the many, many expeditions.Ā That is what I see/look for when I see a "mall crawler" with 82 traction boards, 14 (empty) Rotopax, 72 antennas and prefect, flawless black paint.Ā In fact, on rigs with plastic trim, that's often what I look at vs. the paint itself.Ā Again, my truck's paint looks damn good all things considered, but the plastic trim on the bumpers and the entire plastic mirror housings tell a different story.Ā ĀWeird to laugh at something you don't know the full story, to.
I've detailed a "few" Overland rigs that came in with Pin Stripes, left with brand new looking paint. You're not the only OCD person, in this world. Other people pay to have their paint corrected, too. I've also talked to Kevin on "Lifestyle Overland" about doing his 4Runner and Lexus when he's in San Diego. Does he use his rigs in a manner acceptable to you?
I'm talking about textured plastic, and I'm talking about Overlanders not wheelers.Ā I've got $1k if you can hide any signs of scratches/trail use on the plastic trim on my truck (including the mirrors).Ā I'm not sure what you have such a hard on about.Ā The pic of my truck wasn't meant to prove my plastic is scratched or my paint is flawed or whatever else, it was meant to show a Brovlerland rig out doing what it's supposed to.Ā But I get it, you want better pics of my truck... unfortunately most pics I have of it were meant to highlight the surroundings, not the truck itself.Ā If you want pics of beat chit and more than Broverlanding I'll post my XJ and WJ.Ā Well, heck, might as well so I can see how much more spun-up you can get...Taking you too seriously? No... I just stopped criticizing people who I don't follow around in life, without knowing details.
If plastic trim abuse is your indicator of a well used rig, I'll stop right here. I've been detailing since the late 80's and have yet to be defeated by scratched plastic.
But, thanks for the pic of your truck... that's 58 steps away from the camera for any detailed pics of damage to YOUR Overland "Rig" plastic or paint. At least you stuck it up here, right?

Then it sank in, considered the fact she was surrounded by loved ones and the mental state you were in, Life Choices to be made that would impact all around you...second reaction wasĀ
As a Duner you look at situations and react. Self Preservation is very important, get to the motherland and get yore head straight. The right choice was made, here you are today!
