Anyone ever listen to The Knitters (X side project with Dave Alvin from the Blasters) who do country (the good kind), rockabilly and folk tunes? I think they only did one record in the mid 80s and then another one 20 years or so later. Here's their cover of Merle Haggard's Silver Wings:

Oh man, that sucks. Jim Ladd died a few years back so I guess Frazer Smith is the last one standing. I just checked and he's 71 . . .
 
There is a song about all your "radio dj heros" dying...damn that day is coming quick. In a sense radio is already dead, too many platforms to choose from, etc.
