What a way to go out

I worked for SeaSpine for 10 years. Created their entire Quality system and had repeated zero non conformance FDA audits my entire time there. They were bought out around my 8.5 year mark by Integra LifeSciences.

I was let go because my salary did not match my education level... and I was making as much as their Engineers while I had a High School degree.

I continued to work in their parking lot, Detailing the cars for people I used to work with (and Electrical Sales Inc.) as I never had the time to fit them in before that. One day while there, I got to witness the Vista Sheriff department taking (what I knew as) my replacement out in handcuffs, for DV the night before.

One of my best friends (some of you knew Alex) worked there still and comes outside asking if I just saw what happened. He then proceeds to tell me that they hired FOUR people to replace me, one sleeps at his desk all day and this one clearly beats his wife. 🤣

Two years later Integra gave SeaSpine back their name/entity and let them run the Spine business how they saw fit. I was contacted to get my job back. I laughed hysterically into the phone as I was balls deep into building Canndescent, CA's first legal cannabis company.

They have since been bought out again, by Orthofix. All of the people I hired moved to other spine companies.
 
I have been managing properties for a group for over 13 years as a side job. I probably work about 40 hours a week doing this nights and weekends, on top of my day job.
I have been the go to guy, that gets things done, builds relationships with tenants, and anyone from fire marshall, to employees in the tenants stores/shops. 2-3 shopping centers, a storage facility, 30 plus duplexes, and a ton of other stuff.
I get a phone call today, not even from the owner, from "his handler" saying have you met XXX, he is owners daughter xxx's boyfriend, and we are giving him all but 2 of your properties, so we won't need you any longer. 2 minute phone call, after 13 years of handling every city issue, fire inspection, customer issue, etc. and I rate a effing phone call from a handler, not even the owner.
I'm just floored. Grateful to have the remaining 2, but man, what a deal. I'm more mad about the way this went down than anything. Her 19=21 year old boyfriend.....really??
I hope these tenants eat his lunch.
I'll go tonite and clean out my personal tools.ladders, etc.
Can you meet us for a handover of the properties? Not sure what I need to hand over, I did every bit of this myself, noone taught me, helped me, or anything, it was making calls and building relationships and figuring things out on my own. Good luck to him, i'll have my keys ready and wish him luck i guess.
You will never regret taking the high road during your exit, going out with class, composure and calmness is something you’ll always be proud of.
 
Personally, I would just walk away from it all, including the two properties. The way you were treated shows they had no respect for you and your loyalty to him over the years.

I would have told the wife when she called about the door to call the boyfriend and hung up.
My first thought as well, why leave you 2 properties, xxx must not have wanted them for some reason.?. Block their numbers, Let them deal with them all and enjoy your extra time off.
 
Sorry to hear this Chris. Now sounds like the perfect opportunity to start your own Company and take all of his customers. I'm sure they would all switch over to you since you've built the relationships.

Found out my company let another employee go...20+ yr employee for using his company issued Amex card......um it has his name on it....anything to get rid of the older employees.....Corporate world has ZERO loyalty to employees anymore.
 
Loyalty does not exist anymore it is long gone.I worked for a company for 26 years the old owner was awesome even though his son was runnin some of it.After he died it all changed.Son didnt trust any one who was there cameras went up gps in trucks wed get a reminder if we were on a lunch to take it on the road no breaks etc.

Many prior employees went on their own and started their own bus but i stayed loyal to the old owner as he was great to me and i was to have a part of the business in return when i saw it change i decided i was not going to be here long and left officially in 2020 but soon after the other guys did so i went back to help his son as he was a good friend at the time but was treated like crap as he wanted me full time again and told me no part time shit.Mind you he was capable of working just didnt want to i was coming from phx to so cal on bi weekly basis.He couldnt keep it open and later was telling some that it was my fault he had to shut the doors.28 years and zero for my loyalty.
 
so i sent my text messages to my old tenants today to tell them the new number to call. One guy owns 12 asian restaurants and he called the owner immediately and then he called me. I told him hope I don't lose what i had left lol. He told the owner I pay his salary thru my CAM payments and this is bullchit. i can't believe you guys did this. He said he is the ONLY person who answers his phone, he told him i gave up on you, you never call me back, but he always answered, returned a text, or call me back in 2 minutes.
So then the owner called me, and tried to start explaining about high CAM rates, etc. and said it wasn't supposed to go down like this, the message was misconstrued. I told him no explanations are needed, and if you ever thought for one minute I ever overcharged you, you are sadly mistaken. I gave you every minute of my billed time x 3. with all the issues that come with a shopping center, he isn't prepared for the call load he is going to see. then he says, submit me an hourly rate and an overtime rate and you can still handle those calls.

I politely declined, told him thanks, but you guys can handle that. All those 2am calls from the fire alarm monitoring, homeless calls, weekend and holiday issues, are now off my plate!! He knew i was pissed, but I was professional about it, and then he said hey if your not going to keep the other 2 would you give me plenty of notice. I said I absolutely will, the same 2 days I was given. phone went silent and I told him appreciate the work he gave me and have a Happy Easter!
So i contacted all my tenants, changed all the contact numbers for emergency calls off my number and went and ate tacos!!!!!!!!!

Typical of him to say it was "misconstrued"...Well sir, if that is the case....then as the OWNER it's YOUR job to make sure it isn't....so HE obviously didn't care enough to make sure something of this magnitude was F'd up....You will be fine......You can hold your head high.
 
This responsibility dropped on a 20 something kid will make him or break him my guess is broken in a month or less
The stories may be entertaining at some point
I wonder if this is a way to get rid of the kid because the father does not like him
