VIN plate after powder coating?

What have you done when powder coating your chassis to protect your VIN plate? Do you get a new one? If so what is the process??

Mine got destroyed by the sandblaster. Made sure they knew and said they would. That didnt help. 

Trophy shops can make them is what Ive been told.  I just left it as it. powdered plate with not much to see.

I’m thinking cover it with some metal tape that won’t burn.  
Or ask the powder coating company. They cover chrome so it doesn’t get coated.

If it’s a metal plate it’s Pretty easy. Cover it with duct tape, a few layers while sandblasting then before it goes in the oven have them wipe the powder off before it gets baked. Same way they do a polished and powdered wheel.

I took a heat gun and warmed it up real good and peeled it off. When the frame was redone just glued it back on. Could never tell it came off.

Sorry for the late reply.  It is a California VIN plate. It looks like a thick sticker. Ill try a heat gun and see if I can peel it off.
