Yeah, @acefuture pays me to show up.Did you guys hire models for the trip, damn!
YUP! ^ GORDON'S SUCKS, STAY AWAY.Glamis and Gordon’s are connected through the dunes. You access camping from Gordon’s from the 8 but it’s also a large dust bowl and the sand is super super soft. You can’t hardly get through it without breaking all the dishes in your motorhome because you’re hammered down (As I did last year) or getting towed out.
Most people don’t like to go to Gordon’s also because they have had a large portion closed down, so it’s difficult to access the fun dunes without getting ticketed (which also happened last year because you end up in the closure and not realize it. ((I knew I just acted like i didn’t realize and still got a ticket))).
But it is a little more family friendly that’s for sure.

You have to download the Avenza maps app, then download the imperial dunes map, and it will show you the closures. I don’t run gps except for that reason on my phone so I couldn’t tell you if it would work on Lowrance or any other gps system.Do the closed areas show up on gps?

From Gordon's Flats to Roadrunner is 18 miles. When we are on the skinny pedal it takes 12-15 minutes to get to Glamis. We usually dune most of the way there and back though and stay off of sand highway. Leave around 9-9:30am, dune the vast majority of Glamis, and can be back in time for a late lunch. The camping is much better for large groups, but you have to pick your entry and exit very well. We had 11 rigs with us last weekend, not one stuck, not one broke anything on their rig getting in or out, and no one aired down. The good riding is not as easily accessible, but we have spent so much time there that we know it exceptionally well.So educate a guy that doesn’t spend much time riding in CA.. How far is GORDONs from Glamis? Same crazy shit as Glamis or more mellow with a (short / long?) ride to olds etc?
Glamis was fun last weekend but it was a dusty SOB.. and I was super nervy about letting my kid out of camp on his quad..
