With the construction on the 78 between gecko and the Beach store, looks to have created quite a mess.

From the cal trans website.

CalTrans maintenance crews will close Star Route 78 (SR-78) near the community of Glamis, from Gecko Road to Ted Kipt Road Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for pavement work, according to a press release. Work is expected to continue through mid-November.

Eastbound and westbound SR-78 traffic will be switched to a single open lane with highway worker flaggers using one-way traffic control. A pilot vehicle will escort motorists one direction at a time on the open lane. At no time will both lanes of the highway close.

So west bound from Texas to wash 22 is not an issue?
They will be stopping people around the RR tracks heading west as well . While the line might not be as long but I am sure there will be one.

Should get really interesting with storage and the ability to enter the highway at a couple locations.  I would just my arrival time till around 5pm those highway workers will have left for the day by then.

Can't wait to see the chit show pix for this weekend!!!!!  LOL

If I had to sit in traffic getting somewhere....that's the best place to be sitting in traffic.

At least when most folks leave on Sunday, it should be business as normal.

You can't make this chit up..........seriously. How bad at your job do you have to be to get hired to work for CA......... I cannot wait to get the F out of here........

Camp rzr Sunday has traditionally been a nightmare getting to the 78 from any of the washes. This Sunday will be a nightmare.

Oh. And Eastbound 8 out of San Diego at the bottom of the mountain was down to one lane this morning. That may not be long term as it looked like a bunch of rocks fell from the rain storm a few weeks ago.

But now I’m sitting on the 115 northbound between Evan Hughes and the 78 and guess what’s happening. That’s right, down to one lane for construction.
Good times.

Great timing California  :biteme:
Well, in their defense, most people don't go to Glamis in the summertime. I've done paving work in the summer, it sucks. Couldn't imagine doing it out there in summer heat.

SAN DIEGO — Construction crews will begin pavement work on a 10-mile section of eastbound Interstate 8 (I-8) from Viejas Creek to just west of Pine Valley Creek Bridge later in the month through early 2024.

Work on the Eastbound I-8 Pine Valley Pavement Project will require reducing eastbound I-8 to one lane. Ramps within the construction zone will be temporarily closed as needed for paving operations.

The Vista Point east of East Willow Road will be completely closed for the duration of the project. The eastbound I-8 bicycle lane will also be closed during the project for the safety of bicyclists, drivers, and highway workers.

I go up the 111 to avoid any kind of hinkyness on the 115.  just seems like 2 lanes > 1 Lane...
