About a year ago I purchased a new 2500 Z71 diesel from a Chevy dealership in riverside.  A few months ago, when I sold my banshee, I noticed that I didn’t have the title to that truck. After some investigation I found that the dealership filed a lien in the name of the my credit union for some unexplained reason.  I contacted the credit union and they know nothing about it.... mostly because I paid cash for the truck.  I contacted the dealership several times and they just DGAF so what the hell can I do?

I would think a trip to the DMV with proof you paid cash may work, but I wouldn't have high hopes. A trip to the dealership and a conversation with the Finance Department's manager should solve your problems, or at least put you on the right track.

Take a copy of the registration & purchase contract to the credit union and get a release of lien. If should be pretty easy to clear up. The purchase contract will show you paid cash for it.

Credit union wrote a letter stating they have no idea why there is a lien. Because they don’t but they can’t do a lien release because they never recorded one in the first place.

Nope, we have had several conversations with credit department and they pawn it off on my credit union..... who has nothing to do with it.  As I said, riverside Chevrolet just DGAF.  I honestly don’t think they would piss on me if I was on fire and they really had to pee bad at the time.

I don’t have time to go to the DMV, I’m thinking I should hire a lawyer.

Go higher up the management chain with the credit union. Probably going to have to prove to the credit union that the lien is in effect and then get to someone who has the ability to realize that it will be easier to just release the lien as if it were supposed to be there in the first place.

Go sit back down in the dealership.  Tell them you want to trade in your truck, but you cannot due to this lien that is on the tittle, that they put there and the credit union has no idea about. Once the lien is gone your willing to trade the truck in. Once the lien is off and they start talking trade tell them you wouldn't trade your truck in to them if they were the last dealership on the planet. Walk out

Didn't you have allot of service problems with this dealership - I might be wrong, was thread on old GD Server (RIP 2021).

If that was you, is it possible the Lien has something to do with all that Service Department drama?

:dunno:

I was thinking he might of paid with cashiers check from the credit union and the dealership placed the lien until the check cleared.

From a year ago....and now they DGAF....I would not be surprised.

The dealership has nothing to do with it anymore. It's now up to the credit union to clear it. The title has been perfected and there is now a registered owner and a lien holder. Walk into your credit union registration in hand, speak to the branch manager, explain how titles department (at credit union) is being no help and how your title got screwed up. They have the power to release it. Once they see they have no financial interest in the vehicle, they should be able to request the lien release. This is not something you should do over the phone. If this is your credit union, they shouldn't be pawning it off to the dealer, they should be helping their member. Just utter words of an attorney see if that don't do it. Again, in person situation. Don't leave the branch until you have a lien release in hand.

Yea, the can’t even preform an oil change.  My wife’s SUV seized up doing 60 on the freeway take it my kids to school because they neglected to put oil back in it ....and this truck, the one with the lien, went completely dead in the Nevada desert because they neglected to reconnect one of the batteries and left the battery cover bouncing around the engine compartment.... next oil change I did myself and I’m about 95% sure they didn’t even change the oil because what came out was black as ink and even stained my fingers.  I’ve done many oil changes and never seen anything like that.

Yeah just remember you have no idea what they are putting in your engine at a shop. If you can’t trust them, don’t take it to them. I knew a guy that had contracts for fleet maintenance and he used implement oil because it was so much cheaper.

I’m back to doing my own oil changes.  I’m about 85% sure they didn’t even change the oil.  Perhaps 95% sure.

Ever change the oil on a diesel truck?  Fresh oil is black after the next warm up.

Was going to change the oil in my Sequioa for the first time after buying it used at 5k miles and the stuff looked new! I called it good and changed it at 8k.
I’m not familiar with diesel, I thought the oil was good a lot longer than gas engines?

The intervals are typically longer because they hold more.  My DMAX holds 3 gallons.
