YES!...Mine just took a dump...I'm in the market too. 23-25k gal pool. :swim:

I've got this one, but it's on it's last legs. Too many rocks sucked up and gears are shot, etc. Not sure if better options.

At it's best days, with full suction it would climb up the wall until it hit tile / waterline. Fun to watch it go around...LOL

Oh wow, do we have the same one?  our pool is just plaster, nothing crazy.

Those "pool cleaners" are generally regarded as the best ones out there... maybe turn up your suction and put new treads on it.  If the pebble tech is rough the only thing that works is kids in the pool or brushing it...

i have great suction, its just there are plastic feet to seal against the pebbles, there is really no brushes on it either.  im thinking maybe there is a better unit with a scrubber or at least something that turns, the "pool cleaner" really has no scrubbing--just vacuum

My last one was a Barracuda G3 knock off ($130.00ish) and it lasted an amazingly long 3.5 years with out having to replace the diaphragm even once!! Wanted to replace with the same thing, but the guy couldn't get that anymore nor believed it lasted that long... So I got what he had that was similar this one does not have any wear parts except maybe the rubber ring (eventually), it has a plastic clacker that beats back and forth. It was about $150.00ish (on craigslist of course). It keeps up with the monsoon dust no problem and decent sized leaves that sink to the bottom. The picture is in 6' of water to show how clear my water stays. It goes up all the walls and I catch it on the seats occasionally. would only get stuck in one corner, but I now IMG_1643.jpghave the psi. set just right and that hasn't happened for a while.

my .02$

I've tried almost everything and the one I keep coming back to is a genuine Kreepy Krauly. Overall they last the longest, have the least amount of problems and crawl all over my pool. I will definitely never use one with the mechanical stuff inside, they fail the fastest and cost the most to keep running, and don't do as well a job.

That barracuda is really close to the Kreepy, had one and it worked very well and lasted a long time.

Never really had a reason to mention it, but I own a pool construction/service/supply business. The robotic cleaners kick ALL OTHER cleaners ass, as far as performance. They are pretty close in the reliability avenue as well. The biggest drawback to robotic cleaners is that you have to completely change your mindset on how your cleaner and pool work. With a suction (or pressure) cleaner, it stays in the pool and your pool is clean every time you want to use it. With a robotic, it doesn't live in the pool. You have to throw it in when your pool needs to be cleaned, but the good part is your pool is clean in a few hours.

If you don't want to change how you live with your pool, the Pool Cleaner or the Zodiac MX6 (or MX8) are the best suctions cleaners for us. We've tried many different suction cleaners, but the Pool Cleaner is the one we keep replacing with. My $.02.

don't they offer rebuild kits for those?

So like a roomba for your pool that you keep on the charger outside the pool?  Hmmm.

Same here, and I’ve had zero issues and my pool is pebble. The rubber on the wheels has turned a tan-ish color though? My pool is salt, so maybe that has something to do with it? My Sister has a knock off of the same one, but hers is plaster & chlorine and their rubber tread is still black.

If the pool has in-floor popup jets is it better to go with a robotic cleaner?

I've got a 40k gallon pool square with a fiberglassed retro over the original gunnite, so it's super SLICK!

up here in the central valley the dust is so bad we have to run the cleaner 4hrs a day or there's mud, plus my neighbors all have big leaved trees that drop tons of shiat in the pool

started with this Zodiac G3 and really liked it until maintenance was to often
cleaned the dust/mud great and climbed the slick walls with ease
problem 1 was the suction valve getting clogged with leaves or rocks
problem 2 was the suction valve splitting and needing replacements, then that ramped up from once a year to 4 times a year and we switched cleaners
the big disc lasted about 3yrs before needing replacement, but there is also some odd pieces inside that had to be replaced
overall CHEAP to use and easy to get parts

Now we have the Hayward Auqanaut
cleans pretty good, but the crazy twists and turns from the mechanics can leave dust/mud spots all over the pool so you see the tracks it took even after 4hrs of cleaning
climbs the slick walls pretty good
took a while to get the valves set enough for the 11-14 revolutions a minute, and doesn't always climb to top water line, looses suction and falls
so far maintenance was been new rubber wheels every spring, they breakdown from dark blue to light blue white and need to be replaced
overall does a GOOD job not great and so far parts are easy to find

I had a couple of these over the years, and was having to replace the diaphragm way too often.

finally switched to "the pool cleaner" 2 wheel version and been running that for about a year.  According to my pool guy, they go through way less parts / repairs

My pool guy said the same thing.

im going to try a Rock & Rocker pool cleaner, electric powered and has its own nets to clean out.  can set for 1,2 or 3 hour routine

i would put it in once a week.  i wanted more scrubbing action.  i have some areas of the lower wall that just doesn't get clean with my 4 wheel "pool cleaner"  even with high vacuum.  Ill keep you posted

Keep us posted on how it works...

starting to debate on getting rid of my pool guy and doing it myself since service costs keep rising

Making it sound like you’re jealous the pool gets more sucking action…
