Time for a new truck (again...)

Yea I'm going to. It's stickered at 7500 uvgw, but we all know about WW and their "sticker weights" Im guessing closer to 9500, then with my car, water, and garbarge another 5k. I think it'll land around 15k. The guy im buying it from has owned it and towed it for many many years with his 2014 6.7
my 2007 WW LE3505 with aluminum sides not the smooth gel coat sides, stickers at 10,800 unloaded im pretty sure. Doesnt have any slide outs either.

Trust me I totally understand. I was a little worried about this as well. I came from an LML that had the cp4 blow and the TCM take a crap on me at different times. Was around $13-14k to fix. Last thing I wanted to do was jump into another problem child. I did alot of research and read alot of reviews. It seems like the motors are good to go, the 10 speed trans seems to be much better in the 22's over the 20 and 21 model years. One thing I did was I bought my truck from a dealer and bought a ford certified warranty that covers everything till 2030 or 100k miles for $3k. Worse case warranty covers it best case I spend $3k to make sure my truck was covered for 7 years.
Are these new trucks running the CP4 still? Do they have a lift pump as well?

did it just "shut off"... check the IPR plug...they melt then will kill it like a switch going off....they sell pigtails for it.... for cheap... Wires and Diesel don't go together well.

Yep, it's the IPR, have a new one on order from Ford that i'm picking up tomorrow. All in all it's a good truck, but I don't have the time to maintain it anymore. Need something I can get in and drive every day without having to constantly think about what next maintenance item it needs. First time it left me stranded was injector O-rings. Burned 8 quarts of oil on the way out to the dunes. Had to get it towed to Yuma from the dunes to get it fixed. Second time the battery cables internally corroded and cooked a battery. Third time was a CPS, now 4th time (and the most scary) was the IPR and it was while driving. Lost power steering too.

2018 f250 diesel, hands down my favorite vehicle I've ever owned. Got a good deal used with only 12,000 Miles, Its about to crack 190,000 miles. Truck Has run flawless so far... But I can feel the trans shifting harder and harder for the past 10,000 miles... I've been talking with my tuner and we will be rebuilding the trans sooner than later.

Truck was deleted and  tuned at 100k

leveled on 37s at 40k

Its not a show truck, its a truck. I haul material with it for work  and I occasionally will send it through "Jeep trails" at lake pleasant to find some shoreline away from everyone else.

I have thought about getting a new one, but I've seen so many problems with new trucks. I call my truck "the last good one"

Thanks Parker, glad you like it. What issues have you seen with the newer trucks that have you questioning?

Nothing off the top of my head, One guy I go to the dunes with got a new Duramax last year and its been in the shop 4 times. 3 for dpf/ emissions problems, and once for electrical. I feel like half the people I talk to with new trucks have similar things to say.

I guess the real reasons I like my truck and don't want to get a new one.

Its been proven reliable and I've maintained it religiously

no truck payment

Ever since its been tuned, its a whole new truck. No way I want to go back to DEF and a slow truck

I’ve got a 2020 f350 with the 7.3 gas motor. I bout this to tow my toy hauler with. I see too many problems with all my friends diesel trucks so went gas.

It has been great so far with about 35k miles since new in 2020 (built feb 2020) so just before covid.

She is definitely thirsty for fuel when towing but I’ve been happy so far.

I have had 2 minor issues that were covered under warranty that are known problems with this motor but I think have been sorted out now with the newer ones, but nothing compared to my buddies with the newer diesel trucks. 1) a bad spark plug wire causing a misfire 2) oil leak at the front main seal.

Yes they still have the CP4.2 Supposedly its much better but I still dont 100% trust it. Hench why I got the warranty. When my warranty is up I will replace it with the new S&S pump that is suppose to be bullet proof for these. I just wanted the warranty to cover the whole truck.

Didn’t the 6.7 diesels have a dry start issue where it would take somewhere around 9 seconds to lubricate the top end of the motor after an oil change and after sitting for a while too?  Anyone have any issues relating to that?

Did you check the plug....look at the backside...

I know my lady will be happy with the ride quality. She thinks the 7.3 is like driving a pogo stick and shes not wrong
I guess I should specify that my ride quality is greatly improved over stock by a high quality Fabtech 6” lift and good quality remote reservoir shocks. Not often you can say a lift improved ride quality but this set up did for me. I also have the crew cab long bed so the long wheel base helps too.

If you're in the market for used hit up UrClever ( Tony ). He has a F250 crew cab Tremor for sale. Only reason he's selling is because he ordered a new dually. It's a clean low mileage truck. Dealer maintained and never off roaded.

Thought I'd follow up on this one. Finally pulled the trigger on a new truck. 2020 Lariat Short Bed. Single owner truck, every maintenance receipt since the day it rolled off the lot, and a DCR fuel pump. Very happy with the truck so far. Hitch will go in it this weekend. I'll put a level on it and wheels and tires. Looking forward to towing with it next week to see the difference.

Congrats on the new truck. The difference will be night and day. You will probably kick yourself for not doing it sooner. The 7.3 is a dinosaur compared to that 6.7

Congrats on the new to you truck. I Dont know shit about Fords but thought the 7.3s were 'bullet proof'? My neighbor had a 2001 7.3 dually and sold ot to a buddy that drives it literally daily. No idea what the current mileage is.

I'm on my 4th Duramax. My 2006 had 445k, my son's 06 had 265k, my 2014 currently has 365k and my 2021 has 245k.

Guess what my next truck will be...

Not in Austrailia anymore!
Haha…. Thanks , it was hard taking that picture upside down….

On another note, I sold the f250 for $9k more than I bought it for in 2020 and just bought a new ram 2500…. Picked it up for $19k under MSRP which just goes to show you how much they make on these trucks!
