How do you lock your nuts?

By far the most important aspect of bolted joint design is developing and maintaining the proper joint preload (via installation torque).

 
After all these tips, I feel silly using my wife's fingernail polish as "Torque Paint" on my fasteners.

And I never used chrome fasteners, just Grade 8 from the local Cat dealer. (All sizes available)

Loctite of course., And yes, a shank bolt everywhere.

 
I was kidding, I had to stick something in the hole, to stick it back on the ground in the garage.  

It is all fixed up now.  It's running pretty good.
