Summer Upgrades To Your Sand Car

I took my car to AG San Cars in El Cajon to get a couple of things done.  first was to figure out why the car does not steer worth a beans.  It would appear that >3" of bump steer can do that.  Dustin moved the tie rod on the spreader bar & made longer tie rods.

He also made me a new Engine cover.  the old one I made would channel the heat off of the radiator straight into the trunk & melt all of the food in there.  LOL.

Lastly he removed the shocks & his son DJ rebuilt them for me.  he did a little adjustment to the valving, but didn't end up changing any of the springs.  he used the "gray" steel-it paint to finish them off.  DJ is out in Glamis mostly on off weekends doing shock tuning, if anyone is interested in getting him to dial in their cars.

I'm excited to see how these changes make the car drive.

And dont you perverts go staring @ my melons.....  LOL

Well my simple tranny re-gear turned into a full rebuild with gen 3 upgrade on my S4S. Thanks to Daniel Folts for the quick turn around. Then I decided to shake my wheel and felt a wobble which turned into a twisted micro stub so full Jamar stubs, hubs, limit straps, which turned into painting my intake, which turned into a stripped break caliber bolt, which turned into welding up new rear cage quick disconnects, which turned into full CV rebuilds, which turned into a leaky radiator so I pulled it today so now going to CBR tomorrow. I just can't justify to sell this thing now hahaha jesus never ends!!! One thing after the other seriously this Summer. Haven't even gone out due to work and busy home life! Atleast it will be ready 100%!!

That's like when you want to paint your cabinet doors and end up remodeling the whole kitchen?

DJ does a good job. He had tuned my shocks on my car and it made a huge difference

Well almost done! unfortunately my painter wasn't able to take it in so that will wait till summer. I swear these things always snowball but just about there. Fresh tranny from rancho, Lots of body work from emill, moved some pieces around on the motor so we are finishing up the new plumbing today, one of my axels was always long (the way I bought the car) so we had the axel shortened which allowed us to drop the arms and give us about 2-3" more of travel in the rear, added a bunch of rigid underglow lights to the car too. Just in time for our first trip the weekend after new years!

Sold the Turbo J35 set up that I absolutely loved, and the built a fresh LS1 and built a new engine cage to fit the new motor. Love the LS so far.

I would like to hear your overall impressions of this change.
0 regrets at all! Made about the same power as the turbo Honda did, but the feel and sound of the LS is so much better.  Not to mention, this Wuerth chassis is super light to begin with, so makes it even more fun.

Race car stuff for the next few months! On the final assembly of my Alumicraft 6200. Just got the 14" 6 piston outboard hubs from proam (small rotor is the old style 6 piston that goes on prerunners), 2.5" billet bolt on snouts with 6 piston front hubs, RPI hardware throughout, james lin wiring going in with all motec, and fire suppression. This car should be the real deal when it is done. Going on month 14 since I ordered the 6 speed albins with a billet convertor. Hoping to get the trans in and the car complete by the end of February... fingers crossed!

Where did you take your radiator to get fixed.

I talked with Bob
I ended up getting a new one made at CBR and they welded the wrong fittings on it... LOL damn companies are just not like they used to be.

My old one I am going to keep it as a spare and get it welded where the leak is....

Thanks matt!
