Summer ready?

Well this past Friday all I could get was 60. I don't know what happened...

Anyway, I'm running a 21 pitch prop, going to start changing the height and set back next.

Maybe your boat is heavier? How big is it?
Just your typical ski boat. Open bow outboard, which I think is cool and unique. I have hardly any pictures of it!

Definitely a cool boat, I dig the open bow/outboard set up, makes for a lot of interior space. As for the speed, I think it must come down to hull design, mine is a pad V. When it's up on plane, very little is in the water, also I believe most ski boats have a lower pitch prop to help in pulling up a skier. I'm sure with a different prop and possibly raising the engine you could get more out of it. If you wanted too.

I'm just learning all the ins and outs of prop boats, always preferred a jet boat before this, and a might go back that direction at some point. I'm a shallow water river guy, jet boats reign Supreme on the lower river...

Yea thats usually how it works. The hull design is pretty cool on this thing. It was the generation before the barefoot falcon I believe.

Last summer I put a torque shift prop on. The bottom end, out of the hole pull has always been good, but with the TS it will rip your arms off. Didnt gain much on top speed, but have only had it out once with that prop. Not too worried about it, but we all chase something. I just want to have the fastest ski boat out of my group of buddies. I've footed at 50mph behind a friends Barefoot Nautique and dont really have to do that regularly, haha.

I grew up barefooting and still love to do it today. I have a wakeboard, which is fun, but man those boats are crazy expensive and to be honest, I get hurt more doing that than on my bare feet. Low maintenance, easy to tow, not the prettiest thing in the world = my kids can have their apple sauce on the seats and I wont care if it spills (still no shoes though), and best of all, it was just under $6k when we bought 2 years ago!

Boats are fun. Really happy to say my wife and I were able to get our own after a lifetime of going with family and friends. We dont care to be super fancy, but love getting out and taking OUR friends and family now. This has actually motivated me to get the buffing kit out and wake that gel coat up this month!

Still trying to get my moho fixed before I can get the boat fixed. May not hit the water this season.

That's a rad setup! Cool!

Best mine has ever done is 44 on glass with no wind and the secondaries on the carb screaming. Ski boats, especially inboards, leave so much hull in the water that you've got to have a bunch more power to overcome the drag. Mine is a 351 Turd I mean Ford and I've never seen the tach able to get over 4500rpms underway. For me, that's fine tho as I love the interior room and the ease of access to the engine and transmission when doing servicing.

Ive become quite the fan of old Centurions - yours looks cool! The new ones are are sick too. Floated with a couple up at the end of Navajo Canyon in 2020 with a new sparkly blue one - oh man we were drooling. One of our friends is redoing his 89 Barefoot Warrior - will see if there are a few pics to post.

On that note - I think mine is a Barefoot Falcon Bowrider. Cant find it anywhere online, but thats as close as we've been able to come :dunno:

So I'm not the only one that has discovered the lack of info on these old things? Mine is an 86 Concourse Skier with the Commander Marine 300 (Ford 351W). I've been told that mounting a tower is not recommended due to the way the top is attached to the bottom hull and after this past summer's project of removing the bow rail and replacing the forward cleats, I see why! It is not glassed together, rather just uses rivets, screws and silicone!

Pulled it out and got some pics last weekend. Did some work to it as well. Here are a few shots.... Hope to do the upholstery next year maybe, and might pull off all the trim pieces for powdercoat too. Need to do a little work to the trailer eventually, but the new winch system should make loading it up a lot easier for my wife now. Custom plate with our "ranch brand" on it (means 4 CJs) haha

Took the boat out for a spin on Saturday, super stoked it started right away without charging the batteries.  Water season is here.
