Smog for Diesel pushers now...

Newer Diesel RV's already have the "DEF" system? I believe the "DEF system actually cleans the air it takes in to a cleaner exhaust. I don't know nor do I GAF. LOL

Moving out of here in the near future...
The DEF is strictly to reduce NOx(Oxides of Nitrogen)emissions. Though it can fail, like any system, the upside is it reduces the amount of EGR they have to use, AND it allowed them to add some timing back into the tune which gives back power and MPG lost to the earlier heavy EGR setups. The cleaning is done by SCR(Selective Catalytic Reduction), including the DOC(DIesel Oxidation Catalyst), and the DPF(Diesel Particulate Filter). Regenerations are done to de-soot the DOC.

Here is a diagram of the Ram/Cummins setup from a training seminar:

So, have a couple of buddies with older pre-DEF/DPF diesel pushers. With the 14k lb recreational vehicle applicability, does this mean they’re all going to have to get them inspected quarterly? This seems like a gigantic burden on vehicles sold before these laws went into effect.

Edit: doesn’t appear they specify diesel, so ANY of us with a GVWR sticker on the door that says 14k+ will need to get quarterly inspections? Holy hell

What a nightmare.

Where do the MH Clubs and MFGs stand on this BS?

Who is going to build the first EV Motorhome?

:hi:
Who knows, although I'd love to sell to the type that will be looking at them. Complete brainwashed pushovers. The same people that rushed to buy every RV in sight in 2020-2021.

I’m sure the quarterly inspections will be cheap…
