Single fan to dual fan help

So I went with this after I found out original fan was low cfm

The plastic piece that goes from blade to blade broke near one area (can epoxy and keep for a back up I think). It’s been 1 month past warranty! They don’t sell just the blade. So I’m thinking of going with a Spal 14” puller.

The cfm is less but not sure as Spal seems to be the go to fan (found cfm ratings could be fudged on off brands). And then I think the easiest would be to add 2 smaller 6” fans (325cfm each). Both hooked to the 2nd fan wiring. Added when I had john rewire in a new ecu.

plus raising the intercooler a couple inches off the radiator.

and I’ll do water wetter as well so that way I won’t know exactly what helped if my temps are now reasonable!! Lol

dual fan shroud would be nice but I don’t think I trust those plastic ones and this will get done within the budget for now I think.

Also. I replaced my radiator which was a single pass (leaking) with a dual pass when I went with higher cfm fan and not sure if that made much difference.

edit

i just found who makes the fan I bought from kegs. I’ll see if they can send me a new blade and stick with it but still add the 2-6” fans.

I wouldn't even consider the Jeg's fan.  The power consumption on the Spal is higher, which typically means it's moving more air.  It takes power to do work...

Did you open up the cut out around your intercooler?

The difference between your 3 fan set up and the dual 11" is $15 ( if bought off Amazon ) and the dual set up will be an easier (cheaper) to install with more CFM.  The plastic shroud should be more that adequate, it's secured in 6 places.  If I were the least bit concerned I would maybe run a strap along the top and bottom captured by the hardware.  It wouldn't go anywhere.

Cutout. I tried a scoop first but to no avail. I will not be able to use the wing with the way I have to raise the intercooler so it will be a non issue at first. If temps are good I’ll lower the intercooler to where I can just get the wing on leaving hopefully at least a 1/2-1” space between it and the radiator and see what happens.

I ordered the  11” dual fan set up. Only worry I have is my shroud that it will bolt to is 28.5”x14.5” and the fan set up is 23.5” (good there) x 16.25”, might need to do some trimming….

On a side note, I’ve had a toggle switch installed on most of my buggies to manually turn the fan on.

I would have bungs welded to the radiator tanks top and bottom to capture the whole shroud, similar to how your shroud is attached now.  Not bolting it to your old shroud.  Then trim as necessary, using foam tape to fill gaps between the radiator and shroud.  If you have big gaps, the air will go through them instead of the core.

All running. It appears that one fan is set to come on at 180° and the other fan kicks on a  little higher temp. Than that?

normal?

can you confirm @John@Outfront

thanks and can’t wait to see the results.

simply unplug the fan that comes on first and wait a little while longer to confirm its operation

I did and it kicked on, hurried and plugged in the first one and working great. I assume that’s a setting in the ecu so the start up draw isn’t all at once??

Make sure all the gaps between the shroud and radiator are sealed off with the foam tape I noted before.  You can lose a ton of fan performance to air leakage.

This is lightyears ahead of where you were before. 3x the airflow capability!
