Sell privately if you can. Banks and dealers dont give current market rates. Use them for purchases or sell to a private collector for metal value. There are apps and books for identifying coins of special value (low mint numbers, minting errors, etc) theres s many variables i doubt any one person considered an expert could identify most rare or valuable coins. High value coins are usually graded which often costs alot of $

I find it funny, now that I am researching and doing this, I understand the fascination. It is addicting. Now I am contemplating keeping the ones with real value and sell everything else??? who knows..........
