Wife and I were talking last night, she has a bunch of silver coins that were her Grandparents, so at least 50 years old. They are in the attic, but we are going to pull them down and see what we have. With prices so high, I think it might be time to sell them all. Lots of home improvement stuff going on in the house, plus an upcoming kid wedding, we could use a bit of liquid cash right now.

So what is the best way to sell them? I imagine it might depend on what we have, but if the coins are collectables, who do we go to for appraisal, or is there a website?

I just sent some stuff to JM Bullion (online) super easy and straight forward but you will be back of spot. I assume they are coins so that is a tad more subjective as they may have individual value but most likely just worth whatever silver thy contain (approx 90% of weight 1964 and earlier). Local coin shops may have live buy / sell quotes but usually pay less. if you want spot you will need to find a private buyer or sell on eBay. I'll pm you a fairly local to you coin shop that has a live quote set up online.

In addition, if you are wondering if any of the coins have value in excess of silver content there are apps you can scan them with to get a value.

Take your time and check out your coins online, just type in the coin and date for a general idea of what you have.
Keep in mind older doesn’t necessarily mean more valuable so pay attention to the newer ones as well.
I just sold some silver bars I got as payment for snow removal a couple years ago, the value tripled!
I just go to the local gold / baseball card type shop, $3 per once off spot was a bargain for the convenience.
*Spot is the current value

WOW....that's a hell of a deal...Congrats!!

I've heard a lot of good things about these guys. They have been in Vista for a LONG time. I've bought some Gold online directly from Mines but would go here if I wanted a local Vendor or to sell to them...

40 years ago I inherited a "Gold Proof" coin set from the US Mint. I'm not sure
what its price was, but 5 years ago, it pulled $5500.00. I should have kept it.
$8000.00 today

I thought so as well. I forgot about the bars, found them in the gun safe, had no idea how to turn one into cash.
They paid well because the bar was certified and they sell them. “Junk” silver was more expensive to sell, $8 off spot I believe.
