Sorry if this has already been posted. Just got this info from BRC. Feds apparently trying to create a national monument adjacent to Glamis.

Saw this last night too. Here's a closer view of the land area in question - basically the entire East side of train tracks / 78 to the Colorado River. Certainly one of the white squares within is the Boardmanville parcel. Looks like the proposed Chuckwalla monument covers the other side of 78 too. Huge area of land to give up

Why would a monument require 390,000 acres? It isn’t Rushmore.. which group would be the best to fight this off? ASA?

I got the notice from Blue Ribbon Coalition (same as link in first post)

Anytime I see stuff like this associated with a "tribe", it's going to be a money grab.
I'd love see to the details on the monument, why it has such significance and needs restricted use. That's a massive amount of land.

I sent Lance a text. He said he had a whole group of people gearing up for this fight.

He will post more info when it's available.

Or a chance to get back at the white man.

This is some BS.

Thanks for posting, would love to hear more from BMV Lance on his take of this.

Also happening is the proposed expansion of Joshua Tree National Park and the creation of the Chuckwalla National Monument which will basically close the desert between I 10 and Hwy 111 from Indio to the Colorado river

Gold, silver and lithium

Be nice to see him fighting something other than Robby G.
Lance is a friend to the Desert and has been fighting for stuff behind the scene. Most people only know about his beef with RG, but that is really to make people aware of the problems they have. Even bad publicity is good for business.

I am wondering where that beef even came from.. that guy hates on speed and Robby to a point that’s ridiculous though

On a side note I took that quechen casino for like 5k in 35 minutes last time I went to algadones lol.

An important update from the Vice President of our Board of Directors Shannon Welch after spending some time on the ground recently in Glamis:
For decades, Glamis has been more than just sand dunes to many—it’s a rite of passage, a tradition. Families, friends, and off-road enthusiasts come back every season to celebrate our freedoms on quads, sand rails, dirt bikes, and side-by-sides, exploring the ever-changing landscape of the dunes. But now, Glamis is under serious threat from a new wave of potential land restrictions.
The Kw’tsán National Monument, proposed right up against Glamis, is just the beginning. Even if Glamis itself isn’t part of this designation yet, these monuments have a history of expanding and bringing restrictions that can spread. Once they get a foothold, access can gradually be shut down.
Why We Need to Act NOW:
Lame-Duck Danger: Joe Biden is now a lame-duck president, and he has already declared 5 new national monuments with little notice. We are at serious risk of him pushing through monument designations like Kw’tsán with less than 24 hours’ notice! Every president in recent history has used their final days in office to lock in lasting decisions, and Biden could do the same without warning.
California’s Push for Monument Designations: Governor Gavin Newsom has actively supported the designation of the Kw’tsán National Monument through Senate Joint Resolutions 16 and 17, formally requesting Biden to declare this area a monument. This state-level backing makes it even more likely that areas around Glamis could face increased restrictions, with California prioritizing 30x30 land closures over OHV access.
Permanent Restrictions: National monuments are incredibly difficult to reverse. Once this designation goes through, we could be looking at a future where Glamis and surrounding areas are permanently restricted, and our riding freedom is lost.
Government Overreach: This isn’t just about one monument. It’s part of a pattern where decision-makers in Washington make sweeping land grabs, often without local input. We need documented opposition now to have any chance of reversing these moves in the future.

What You Can Do to Protect Glamis:
1. Raise Your Voice: Sign the petition to oppose the Kw’tsán and Chuckwalla National Monuments. https://mstr.app/ba054af5-b5fd-496b-b935-f3a264a1e950
2. Stay Connected: Join the BlueRibbon Coalition for updates and action alerts. BRC is leading the fight in court and challenging the overreach of the Antiquities Act, which allows these land grabs without public input. We need everyone informed and ready.
3. Spread the Word: Share this post. Bring it up with your riding buddies, your family, everyone who calls Glamis home each season. The more people who know, the stronger we are.

Protect Glamis—Defend Our Right to Ride!
Glamis isn’t just sand—it’s freedom, it’s tradition, it’s a way of life. Let’s stand together to protect what’s ours. If we don’t act now, Glamis could become just another closed chapter in OHV history.
