Ruts are killing me!

I have an Extreme Fabrication, 2 seat, mid engine V8. No bypasses(Piggyback 2.5's) and is a super light car. The ruts and cross tracks a killing me. Its getting to the point that I don't look forward to the next ride. I've lowered the front air pressure down to 5psi with some improvement. The rears are at 11-12psi. I'm running Tatum combo Spindles on the front.
I was thinking about trying 10.75x15 Razors, but wondered if I could go with a flotation SxS type tire instead to get better rut absorbing.
Any help is appreciated.
Kevin

I have 10.75 Razors, the ruts are brutal. I agree, part of me almost hates going out because of how bad they beat us up. My wife sits in the back seat where it isn't as bad. Compression all the way out on the rear bypasses helped a little, but not having bypasses on the front only allows me to drop some PSI on the fronts to try absorb them.

I tried lower tire pressure but found it works better with more like 12. When they are low the tire is taking some pressure before the shock can work. When going slow think of old atc with no suspension.

I went with softer springs up front and going to revalve my shocks play around as I did get some improvement. It’s a beam car mid travel fox 2.0 coilover.

now that we all agree that they are terrible. Has anybody tried those fatter SxS tires, instead of the 3 ribbed razors and if combo hubs can handle them?

No, it's not... it's from the 4x4 action as the suspension moves.
I followed a couple buggies last trip and they were doing it too. I think most of it stems simply from having exponentially more vehicles out there.

Now that we've all agreed that the ruts are terrible and that the cause is extreme HP, can we come to an agreement that we should petition the BLM to limit the HP Weight ratio to 1 HP to 10# of machine weight for 4 wheeled vehicles (100HP for 1,000#).

I'm not totally serious....or am I?

Pro R with 35” tires with Dynamix no issues.
I can't say no issues but it isn't terrible; I'm on 32s that measure 33 though. I can't imagine riding a quad out there these days, that's for sure.

As for legislation, we should add that all vehicles must run an SS360s.

I have the same setup and had the same problem...Spend the money on internal bypass shocks - night and day difference for me. It's $, but worth it. My fronts and rears are for a side by side...the difference is they come with a rebound adjustment (it's a needle the goes up through the shaft of the shocks) - the offroad internal bypass shocks don't have that feature - just low and high-speed adjustment. Is that needed? Maybe not, but I thought it would be cool - and gambled and it paid off for me.

The PDF that I attached - the very bottom of it- has all the measurements of the side by shocks...fronts on mine are for a honda talon, rears for a rzr...they are about the same price as offroad internal bypass. This PDF used to be easy to find on the Fox website - but it's no longer there, at least that I can find...point being, some of the new sxs's are not listed.

It makes me sad - the little chatter bumps are everywhere...people with old school buggies, quads, etc won't be able to experience what most of us had the luxury of experiencing...which is to say, no chatter bumps in the dunes, anywhere - and with the suspension on those vehicles, it's absolutely brutal.

Even just 5 years back they were not there. This year is the worst it's ever been, even at Gordons. Sucks as it's only going to get worse - and I'm not convinced the wind fixes it -kind of like the whops on olds, gets worse and farther up the hill every year. Thankful for the shocks I have, but sucks for a lot of people out there now.

I've seen these shocks for sale before. From a Can Am I believe and always wondered how they would work on a sand car. Very cool.

In my case none of the nice take off were the right dimensions so I had to buy new. That file is Fox's aftermarket shocks / not the shocks that come on the units from the factory fwiw.
