Routes to Glamis from Kingman

Who knew it was such a chore getting to Glamis from AZ. No gas and navigating dirty shitty people, sounds like Mad Max movie.

For us its an almost a straight line from many different parts of the state, line up and sit in traffic.

So easy LOL

What's the deal with hiding firewood, Is it illegal in CA now ?
They prefer you buy where you burn it mainly to bark beetle or other bugs that can live in firewood.Id rather avoid the hassle and hide it if i bring it.Most times i use a smudgepot though and rarely use firewood.I might take some for one night if a longer trips incase it gets breezy where a smudgepot aint that great.

California has a combination Weight / Inspection station right across the bridge in California before Blythe. I roll thru it every time and usually have firewood in the open bed of my truck. I make 6-8 trips per year and could not tell you the last time the wonderful and environmentally caring CALTRANS employees have done anything but just wave me thru. Most of the time last season it was a mile or longer back-up just to get to the Stop sign at the station where you just got the wave thru.

From Phoenix or Tucson it's not hard. Anywhere else (Kingman) has a few more challenges, just like coming from Vegas.

Been like 4 hours consistently from Peoria that includes a decent fuel
Stop in quartzite or Tom wells rd. I really don’t top 70 either.

I think it's the Shell at Tom Wells that typically has gas 30-40 cents a gallon cheaper than stations on ether end of them.

Use to be like that but now from qsite to eherinburg its about a 3 cents difference.I like quick in and out terribles has been great for that.Tom wells can be a clusterfuck only thing i like is i barely make it to glamis and back to get fuel otherwise i need to stop in palo verde or blythe.normally when u just drive to ca for work arco off riggles is easy in out

It looks like I'm gonna have to investigate Agnes Wilson Road. South of Parker, if you get behind an RV it seems like it is 55mph and no more. It is worse, or so it seems, north of Parker towards Havasu.

The stretch from palo verde on the 78 to glamis is brutal if you think the 95 is bad. I swear it averages about 50 mph especially at night. It’s like panic mode for a lot of drivers.

The 78 thru the rollers doesn't bother me during the day but at night it's a no. I either have it so I am at the mine by Sunset or I wait until morning and I time it so that I don't hit the 78 until sunrise. I just cannot take the lights in the eyes on two lane road any more, The new LED or HID lights are hard on old eyes

When I moved Daniel and Michelle here from TX, we stopped at one of those Fireworks warehouses off the 10 and I filled the back of the Uhaul with almost $1,000 worth of fun... right at the back by the door. We hit the CA/AZ inspection station and the lady running our line made me get out and open the back door of the Uhaul to check for plants and wood. I told her the only house plant we were bringing was just checked out by her in the 4runner ahead of me (Daniel's Mom) and there was just household items from the move in the truck. She still made me roll the door up and as soon as I got it about 6" - 8" open, she saw ALL of the fireworks and said, "Whoa! I don't need it open THAT MUCH! Close it to about 2" so I can JUST BARELY see IN the door. Looks like you guys made a good stop back there... have fun and be safe with all of that!"

Completely useless stop. 🤣
