Such a bummer!

Eliminator was the very first Record I ever bought. Yes, a RECORD...that played on a record player. I'm :ex:

:lmao:  I played the eff out of that thing.

One of my favorite songs from them is Got me under Pressure.

What's yours??

The Fandango album is a great one. Live recording and early in their career

I nicked this from a friend's insta tribute post.  Oh man, the 70s . .

Growing up in Houston, Texas I had many memorable encounters with ZZ Top (I used to park Billy Gibbons’ car at my valet job, their manager/producer Bill Ham used to go to the dentist my mom worked for & give her gifts to give me, as a young teenager I & they attended a wedding of a mutual friend, etc).

I saw them countless times over the years but the most memorable is the first. It was on the World Wide Texas Tour at the Summit In 1976. This was the tour where they performed alongside a live buffalo, a longhorn steer, a rattlesnake & at least one buzzard on a stage shaped like Texas.

It was festival seating on the floor, I was 11 years old & it’s my very first memory of “smoking pot”!

Rest easy Dusty Hill, you are so important to me & many others & your work has & will remain amongst my favorite things ever.

I know this band was great but for one reason or another I never followed them.  It may be fun sometime soon to discover some songs I missed that I end up liking.

RIP Dusty

RIP Dusty.
Sharp Dressed Man

I don't think Dusty was on the tour. Guess he had hip and shoulder surgery and his rehabilitation was not going well and had to do with his passing.

The greatest musicians of a generation are now in their 70's or older. There will not be another generation like them. There might be better players technically but that generation were the ones who wrote the play book on how to do it and came up with great original songs.  If you get a chance watch the Rick Rubin and Paul Mac special on Hulu.  It is a music version of talking to your grandfather about what he did in WW2. Glad the two of them made the documentary/ interview.  Hope Rick Rubin continues to speak to others from that great generation.
Just found this video showing ZZ Top and Dusty’s last show on July 18th. Looks like he was playing, but he was sitting on a trunk. Probably like you mentioned about him have hip issues or recent surgery.
