I’m trying to find the onboard video from the truck now.

Long story short the ranger is stopped at the drags, these guys launch and the ranger begins traveling across their path, at the last second he swerves out of the way to not get hit by the truck. The truck continues to the end where the ranger promptly shows up hooks the guy up only to release a few minutes later.

So who’s at fault here?

Logically you’d think the ranger for crossing into the path? But the ol lad man in me thinks I would let off the throttle way before I got near hitting anyone let alone a ranger? I can kinda see it both ways..

What say the masses?

RANGERS FAULT

You NEVER pull out in front of someone or go the wrong way at the drags PERIOD

What possible "EMERGENCY" warrents putting lives in danger to do that.

This is CRAZY !

If you were in the truck and you just lined up, would you have lifted if it was someone else? Or if it’s a ranger?

Personally I would.. but I’m super conservative

I’m leaning towards Ranger being the problem, not enough video to be certain.

The guy took off at the line and was most likely focused on everything else around him (there is a lot going on out there when you are racing) - NOT some Yahoo Ranger tearing up to his side doing a traffic stop. There is a LOT going on at the drags - Its a VERY dangerous place and I only watch from camp OR the beginning rows closest to the start - I can't believe there hasn't been more lives lost (thank God) due to the stupidity and Ignorance involved out there. Ive watched people turn off short of the finish line to loop around and almost get PLOWED by a rail doing over 100mph

Its is AWESOME to see the rails go at it side by side (not my thing but I like watching) but it is VERY dangerous the way people line up and watch One slip up and the vehicle hits a LOT of people.

You asked and thats my opinion.....its funny how when all the rangers arent there - somehow things seem to be ok. I am all for MORE RESCUE RANGERS / Medics and less of the Dressed like Im going to war in Falluja crew who hand out broken whip tickets.

Go to Dumont and then Glamis. The difference in BLM Rangers is night and day - In Dumont they are there to HELP you not try and see how mant tickets they can collect. The difference is HUGE - I wish Glamis would be like that. The support the BLM used to have in Glamis was awesome - its taken a big turn in the latest years and I hate to see it.

From what I was told and confirmed by others at the drags. The drags were closed due to a broke down buggy and people were attending to the broke down buggy and a BLM Ranger was down course with the broke down vehicle. Everyone else waiting to go down the drags saw this and was waiting. Notice no one else is going? The two “Bro’s” in Ram pickup trucks clearly don’t know the rules or thought it excluded them and decided to line up and race anyways. When the Ranger saw this he attempted to drive over and stop them, which he was not able to and had to swerve not to run into or cross the paths of the Rams.

THIS is the Issue - NEVER "travel across their path" while they are engaged in a race - That is INSANE ! Its like tapping someone on the shoulder as they are about to fight someone and as the hits start coming - the shoulder tapper almost gets clocked

What was so URGENT that needed to be addressed at that moment in time ?

If the drags were CLOSED Then I stand Corrected - The Ranger was 100% in trying to stop them ! He was trying to save someone from getting hit

THAT is a different senario altogether!

No one crashed, no one was intoxicated or whatever. A quick educational seminar from the Ranger along the lines of "hey, we closed the drags because someone was broken ahead and I was trying to stop you, pay attention dipshit" would've been plenty.

If the dude wasn't charged, let it go. Sitting in bracelets for a short time after doing something stupid is a small price to pay.

Also: that FB thread is full of hilarity. "Designated drag strip", "rules state you are prohibited from crossing the drags". Uh... It's Glamis. There are things you shouldn't do, but not many posted rules on where to drive and how.

if they closed the drags, they need to put more rangers up the line to make sure people know it's closed.

Piss with the cock you got. Sometimes there are shitloads of Rangers, sometimes not.

Either way, a black/white vehicle with red/blues crossing your path at the drags should get your attention enough.

I would think anything out front of you would grab your attention..

First off, if I was the truck, I would have let off. But in the end, nobody was hurt and the Ranger should have just given the truck driver a quick scolding and let it go. No need for bracelets.

I haven't been to the drags in years, I am either duning or sitting in camp with a ICB. I have zero interest watching the parade. Maybe on an off weekend I would go, but then again on an off weekend I will be on Sunset hill most likely?

Yore Mom is hot just to be clear;)

We were there watching and this is 100% correct. The bigger issue with these guys in the trucks (same group of TRX's and a few F150's) is how close to the crowd they like to run. Over Thanksgiving week they made several passes SUPER close to the crowd (like 15-20 feet away). I assume they are trying to avoid some of the whoops, but they are one broken part away from wiping out the crowd.
