There will be a vote about the proposed fee increase at the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, Glamis dunes, this Saturday December 7th. The Desert Advisory Council, DAC, will vote on the BLM business plan that includes a proposal for a fee increase starting for the 2025 season.

You can comment on this plan via a zoom meeting, this comment period will start about 10AM on Saturday 12/7.

If this draft plan is approved as published the BLM could change the fees anytime they wanted without public comment or DAC approval.

Please consider voicing your opinion on this plan at the meeting.
 
I got an idea how this is gonna turn out.........just saying....been following this stuff since Cranston and the desert bill, it's not a level playing field.
 
I've yet to see them not approve a fee increase, despite heavy public comments against.

Also: there has hardly been any LEO presence out there of late. Not complaining, but I don't see where the justification is unless they need more Raptors, X3s and Tatums...?
 
The fee increase is one thing, the completely unacceptable part is the revised process for future increases without DAC approval or public comment... "local" approval means that some single GS12 is going to determine the fee increase on behalf 346 million Americans with no accountability or oversight.
 
I saw 6 BLM within 50 yards of each other checking out vehicles along Gecko last week. :)
Handing out plenty of tickets for no pass.

I am heading back tomorrow, so lets see how many are out there on an off weekend.

This fee increase was approved with the assurance that no fees will be increased in the feature without the legal approval process in the FLREA. This first fee increase will be in effect for the 2025 year and to other fee increases will be put in place in 2028 and 2031 if needed. These future increases will not be increased without the public comment periods and the approval of the DAC. The values in the fee proposal can be delayed but not otherwise changed from the original proposal.
The state BLM director, the local California Desert District manager and El Centro field office manager all assured us that these will be the only fees put in place for the next 10 years at the ISDRA. If any changes to this 10-year plan would be needed, they will have to go through the approved FLREA process to change fees.
 
Does the contractor that sells the permits still get paid a percentage (I think 30% of all sales) or were they smart enough to limit it to a fix cost?

I remember when there were no additional fees 👴

what's the deal with the speed bumps they had out in front of the ranger station over thanksgiving? were those just temporary or permanently installed now?
