Price on a new side radiator for a Country Coach with 8.9 Cummins

My coach is down at the diesel shop due to puking 4 gallons of coolant on the ground. I no longer have a shop to work on something like this so someone else has to do it. It is a 2003 Intrigue with 77,000 miles on it. One of the lines rusted and that is why it puked coolant. They are telling me salt rot and the radiator and condenser need replaced. I did not see that much damage crawling around under that thing but it does not surprise me. Fast forward two months after they get it all apart and I finally get pricing. They were also finding a very hard time sourcing a condenser. $5200 for the radiator, $1100 for the condenser, $800 for the fan. With labor, tax , new piping total quote is $10,800. I really have no problem with all the pricing except the radiator price just seems high. Never could fathom one costing that much. This shop is well known and was referred to me by an RV place I used to store at and I walk in and buy from them occasionally . The gal that was running the service department quoted me less than half that if the radiator needed replaced. Of course she recently decides to walk out along with the tech that tore my coach apart.

Recently replace mine on 2015 Entegra, didi it myself, Radiator, all new hose, hose clamps and coolant cost me $2,500.00. Definitely not an easy project. Took about 12 hours
 
Talked to Premier and they gave me their vendor Radiator supply house. Bolt in replacement is $7363.00. I will need a minute to remove my jaw from the floor.
 
Recently replace mine on 2015 Entegra, didi it myself, Radiator, all new hose, hose clamps and coolant cost me $2,500.00. Definitely not an easy project. Took about 12 hours
Was the radiator you purchased copper and brass? Or aluminum?
 
Just to clarify the bolt in replacement is copper brass. She said they don't have anything in aluminum.
 
Talked to a diesel shop owner in the know and he said for longevity and boondocking copper brass is the way to go. We are going to travel in this thing hopefully for the next 10 years. They are going to check their sources for a better price and if not I will have to bite the bullet and order it from Radiator supply house.
 
I believe the tanks are steel water passages I believe are copper. Purchased direct from Entegra
That was a hell of a price then. Your coach is a lot newer which might make a difference on availability. This old stuff they have you by the balls.
 
$378 freight. Almost $7800 just for the radiator. This job will be almost $14,000. Insane. I had already called Friday to order it and it is being shipped. What I'm learning is there are fewer and fewer people that even want to work on these older motorhomes. If I would have still been in the shop I would have certainly tackled this myself but I'm at the point $205 an hour for labor is worth it. Own a motorhome they said. LOL
 
did you try calling freightliner with the vin if you can get a part number im sure you can get a aftermarket

It is a country coach which has their proprietary frame under it. It's called a dynomax chassis. Also has big giant a arms under the front which is pretty cool.

I had so much trouble with my motorhome over the last two years. I sold it and got a Duramax truck. Just been renting a trailer when we go to the dunes, much easier so far. Good luck on the repairs.

This is why IF we go the moho route it will be a Super C. Common chassis parts, easier service/repair, easier towing, etc.

this is something to consider when buying a moho. Lots of older pushers out there with decent prices for a reason.
