Now that I have an acre I am looking for a utility trailer to haul stuff. Main purpose is to store/stack cuttings, weeds, clippings etc until I have a full load to take to the dump.

Question, is a 5x10 too small? Is a 12-14x7' too big?

It would be great to be able to haul my sandcar or Jeep once in a while, SxS if I end up getting one but is that too big for its main purpose? Should I just have a dedicated trailer with sides?

I have room to store it so that's not an issue.

Looking for advice from those who have done it.

Why not have a dumpster at your house? - That's what we do and it's not that much more than traditional trash service...Different counties / states / cities might have rules that keep you from having a mixed dumpster...Thankfully we are allowed to put greens, horse poop, trash, etc in our 1-yard dumpster. It might be worth investigating what you can do if not already.

Also FWIW - We've already thought about buying a trailer and doing what you're asking about if the prices get too crazy or rules change for dumpsters in our area...just not needed yet.

Small single axle dump trailer. Easy to load, easier to unload, and you never have to worry about running the utility trailer to the dump before you want to use it for something else

We put trash and recycles in the same can but not allowed to put cuttings/clippings in it. Doubt the wife would like a dumpster either

I'd love to have a dump trailer but they are spendy!

Factor in how much you will need to empty first.  Then the dump charge, minimum is over $80 for most places.  I would go for a dumpster, amazing how fast you can fill with clippings.

Doesn’t Prescott have burn days?  Or have they stopped doing that?

$15 min for green waste. They put it thru a chipper and the mulch is free if I need it

I am in the county area so yes there should be burn days, I may do that as well but for the other 6 months (approx) I need to do something else

I would think compost pile and the a burn pile... thats what they do in Wyoming.

Let me ask you this… it’s only an acre or so right, after you get it cleaned up how much other debris do you think you would have? Don’t over think it and look into a chipper/shredder instead. In fact, maybe buy a real small one to mulch leaves and small wood to start and burn anything too big in a fire pit. I am the master at buying equipment for a job so it can sit in the barn just in case.😂

I know the forest is different than the desert. We are on an acre, and I like only being able to do so much before can is full. No real "over workdays". Quit when can is full, back to it next week. Here the dump charge rate goes by vehicle. Car is lowest, truck next and truck with trailer is up there, also number of axles.

This is why I come here advice! Great idea Sir!

My dad has a single axle dump trailer. He also has a small Kubota tractor that fits in the dump trailer. He has 2 acres of grass and trees at home and a large get away out of town so it goes back and forth. I think Dwight is spot on, once you have the property cleaned up, you probably don't need a trailer. Small chipper would be a better idea.

Depending on what you're doing and like asked, long term task;  I use these at work and at my place.  Tow behind a quad or SxS.  They've been fantastic.  Get into tight areas too if you've got a smaller vehicle running them.
