I remember the headline from '84..."Tigers get Padres Goose."  It would seem that there are exceptions to good pitching beats good hitting everytime.  It addition, '01 WS (the best closer in history, against the MLB season BA winner), and 2010 Juco WS.

It trips me out that they still can't sell out the stadium without Dodgers fans being there.  Why don't Padre fans come out and support their team more??  The ballpark is amazing, the location is great, and they finally have a great product on the field?????

 
I find it strange as well, but.........  the answer is because its San Diego...........

In my case, I hated the parking situation.  The alternative was you found a place within a mile and then walked through a mile of panhandlers hanging out on piss covered streets.  I agree that the ballpark was amazing, had great sightlines and great although expensive food.  I do not miss "professional" sports now that I have gone cold turkey.  I have not even watched one Phoenix Suns game.  I hope they win, but not enough to watch.

I was talking about SD sports in general.   I tried like hell to root for SD teams, they just continue to suck year, after year, after year.  Maybe this new ownership is actually serious, time will tell........
