What a chit show.  Typical climate activist dogoodery, that shits the bed elsewhere to feel good here in the first world.

 
It's not just the eco damage that makes it a fraud.  When u factor in all the carbon  emitted in mining, processing, and manufacturing the needed materials, an EV ultimately, over it's useful life, creates more CO2 emissions than a small, fuel efficient gasoline car does. And that does even factor in the question of how you recycle or dispose of the battery when it craps out.

 
People are OK with this as long as someone else is doing the dirty work and they don’t see it being done.
