New to me 4 seat SU Ultra lite

Mine was a five link and it took a 2.0x14 Fox shock. It was strapped at full droop though. The only real way to find out is to cycle your suspension and watch CV angles. Or maybe I misunderstood the question
 
I already picked up the car and will measure the shock shaft length. One of the rear shock shafts has a slight bend to it. Not leaking oil but you can see the bend.
Hopefully that’s all I’ll need to replace. Here’s a picture of the car. 2005 SU ultra light with a 2D and outfront EJ25 subie.
Picked it up today and in Glamis now. Will be doing an oil, gear oil and fuel filter change tomorrow morning and letting her eat!!

Angel, Congrats on the new car.

I would talk to Fox and see exactly what you need or even Kartek. Kartek bought the "extras" when Fox discontinued making certain shocks. They don't advertise it but if you talk to Chris there, he can help you.

That is the 4 seat version of my car with the same power combo. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Mac. I will be definitely reach out. I already have some questions.
Ran good for a couple rides but then lost a cv. It started backfiring/ surging when on the throttle towards the end of the day. Maybe injectors or fuel delivery issues
 
Congrats. What kind of fuel? You should change fuel filters once a year at a minimum. Plug type is importsnt snd max gap at .025”

Nice car! Seen that one at the drags multiple times looks like it moves out pretty well!
 
When you install the new shock, make sure the bearing carrier isn't hitting the bottom spring carrier. I had this happen on mine because the angle of the carrier angle was wrong. I think it is suppose to be 4-7 degrees tilted up compared to the bottom of the frame.

It’s tuned on 110. The previous owner mentioned that outfront had done all the engine work and tune. The car sat in storage for about 8 months so hopefully new injectors or sending them out to get cleaned would help.
What pre fuel pump filters do you use? I was able to find the post filter.

injectors on race fuel are probably fine i would start it up first the pre filter that we use is a 1/2" push on nipple both sides 100 micron $15

That’s probably the issue. I used a 3/8” pre fuel filter instead of the 1/2”
Car ran good when I test drove it at the previous owners house but not as well after I did the maintenance and replaced the filters.
I’ll switch out the pre filter & report back

I received the correct pre fuel filter from Outfront and it seems like the backfiring/surging when on the throttle is gone. I did a few hot laps around the neighborhood after replacing the 3/8"push on fuel filter for the 1/2" fuel filter and couldn't replicate the issue. I will be checking the spark plug gap before the next trip just to make sure.1742585904395.jpeg


I also found the issue with the rear shock. its not the shaft its was the eyelet at the bottom of the shock. It has a slight bend to it. Might have to replace both the shaft and eyelet if the threads were damaged. There was too much preload on the spring as well and caused it to rub into the shock body

Is the threaded end of the shaft bent making the eyelet sit cockeyed? Or the eyelet cross threaded?

not sure yet, I didn't have time to take the shock apart.. Ill be taking all the shocks apart in the next week or so. I've been busy moving to a new place.
I plan to rebuild all the shocks and upgrade them with DSC adjusters and add piggyback reservoirs to the front ( thanks to @Mac for the suggestion). Maybe some new springs too. Shocks are worn and have not been rebuilt for at least 6-7 years.

I took a closer look and the spring carrier is hitting the bearing carrier. I didn't snap a picture yet but will this upcoming week. It looks like I will be need new rod ends for whole rear end.
 
Careful with the piggyback reservoirs in the front. Make sure the arm can cycle around the shock

I’m adding the reservoirs that can rotate around the shock body. Like the ones @Mac has. He has them turned towards the rear to clear the armsIMG_4393.jpeg
