New Recycling requirements...Anaheim.

This is annoying and all, but weren't you guys throwing this same trash in the grey bin before?  On a hot day, my trash always smells like hot garbage, always will.  Whether the bin is green or grey doesn't really change how it smells...
The thing is now, the food waste is now just thrown in with the grass clippings....no plastic bags tied nice and tight!

Sucks...

So far the little food waste we have, thrown in a Tupperware container and put in the outside freezer is working.

Just a total PITA!!!!

My cans are decently sealed (open them up, holy sheeyit sometimes).  Maybe the lid isn't fitting correctly?  My blue waste bins are AFU from the lifting arm on the truck...

All these rules/regulations are created by low IQ people who have no real life experience and zero common sense as a way to validate their existence among us and to "feel good" about making a difference, whether it's a real difference or not

We don't have to do this yet up here, but our idiot government will eventually catch up to the lunacy coming out of your state.

Well said.

It's like the Electric car fiasco. They hear themselves talk...Go Electric, save the environment....blah blah blah! They pat themselves on the back.

They have no clue how bad Electric cars are for the environment to actually make them.

Negative...Paid almost 11K to have my main line hydro jetted and epoxy lined 3 years ago.

No food down the garbage disposal...ZERO!

I'd be leery about the toilet with food as well.

And as @Meter Tech said, they will be random checking cans. Yep first is $100 fine...second is I think $200...and so on!

Eff these People!
why have a disposal if you can't use it? I mean I get not flushing it but dang...

Hot Garbage is my new band name .  .

Or relocate your trash cans so you can have one of these nearby.

It's not rocket science...

Or ....

Place your trash cans in a place where the city can't inspect them.  Then if they do go around and inspect them it will be on trash day when they are on the street and no longer in your control it will be at that point where "If " they were to find "contraband" they cannot actually prove that you were the one who placed it in an unsecured unattended trash receptacle.  I would bet a dollar that one of those ambulance chasing lawyers who love to fight traffic tickets would love to fight such an easy ticket to beat.

Anyone think high-fallooting gov't workers are going to go around cutting open trash bags and sifting through it to find food?

I have one of those zappers in the backyard. It works awesome!

My trashcans are behind a locked gate....hmmmm.

Yeah, once the trash is in the street, not my property right?

In Phoenix, the cans are actually property of the city...

Until the city owned truck damages them and  they need to be replaced, then it is the homeowners financial responsibility...

I'm in Omaha. In our community, all garbage and yard waste go into one can (the black can) then we have a recycle bin (green). I didnt really read what goes in the recycle bin but I do know glass does not...and used pizza boxes.

Not here.  Sign into the same account you would pay on, schedule a replacement.  Easy peasy.

Strange things happen when you don't live under communism...
Same here.

I had a huge crack in the bottom of the yard waste can...called them up, scheduled a replacement, they did it on trash day after it was picked up.

Super easy, picked up the old, dropped off a brand new one.

I know this won't help @dbart but I signed up for my trash service in Prescott and they said it ALL goes in 1 bin! Except for yard waste, no bin for that. Trash and recycles go in the same bin and they sort it off conveyer belts - crappy job but,,,,

Yard waste and tree clippings have to be taken to the 'dump' - Im told they have a section for that.

on the fine thing... this could be a bit of a stretch but california vs greenwood concluded that once the trash is on the street its public domain. at my house its just me and my daughter every other week, my trash can is rarely full, normally just one kitchen trash bag. my neighbors use my can all the time when theirs is overflowing. so how can they prove it was you once the can is on the street where anyone has access to it. the cans are also not property of the user, they belong to the disposal company, so cant really call them private. feel like the could be some argument there. also at the top of my cul de sac we normally put all our cans together in one spot, its easier for the driver, not sure someone looking would know whos can is whos, when we have multiple trash, recycling and green waste cans out.

Bullsh!t they do.

My trash and recycle bins get collected on the same day.  Do you think the city is running enough trucks to do both separately?  They come through the neighborhood once for trash, and then again later for "recycles".

We have plenty of transfer stations around for trash.  I've never seen a single one for recycles.

Why are you yelling at me?

As long  as they pick it up I don't care what they do with it! We have 3 separate trucks here in CA
