Grant/Chad found me a set of paddles, but no luck on the front tires Anybody have a set of Mickey Thompson Baja pro 15” 33 shaved front tires?
Well, I found the wife a car! Excited to get it back out in the sand it needed some Unexpected work. uggggggg!
When I purchased the car, I noticed the front and was seriously neglected and I knew I had to repair I ended up having to rebuild the whole front end, including all new heims and adding weld washers. The repair went flawless.
After I got the front end complete it was time to test the car! The wife wanted to passenger in the car at first just to get the feel for how it operated. Right off there was noise coming from the transmission/driveline area within a few miles of driving it. The inside CVS exploded sending shrapnel through the radiator. FML! Luckily, my daughter was with us driving the Can-Am, so I took over the driving duties in the Can-Am and my wife manned up and got towed out of the dunes! So proud of her! ps, she never got to drive the car under power Hahahha.funny, not funny.
The transmission and motor were so loose it destroyed the front tranny mount. (Still need to cut this out and replace it) 3 cvs were smoked and one drive line was chit. The tranny was leaking from the nose cone, and from behind one of the cups so I took the tranny to McDowell to be checked over. I didn’t trust the transmission in the least bit. The pinion bearing was smoked and sent shrapnel through the ring and pinion. The main bearing was also smoked, taking out the main shaft. The only thing good in the transmission was the Case. This thing would’ve never lasted a full ride. With years of being loose it’s seriously Effed the drivetrain see attached video for how loose the damn thing was.
The owner sold it as “meticulously maintained” pay close attention when purchasing a car don’t get sidetracked by shiny chrome and smooth talk. The car looked the part It hid the neglect very well.
I got her ripped down and the wifey got her cleaned up! Ready to go back together with new radiator, fresh transmission and drive lines! Thanks to the guys at Funco and my buddy Dave McDowell transmission dude extraordinaire.
public service announcement. The Funco customer service is beyond incredible no matter if you’re a new car big fish customer or a small one and only need a few parts these men treat their customers like royalty. Beyond impressed. They got me everything I need to repair the car, including a rush job on the radiator and turning down CVs for the midboards. So grateful for their efforts.
I included a few photos for your enjoyment. Let me know on the tires if anyone has any.
