Motorhome & Enclosed or 5th wheel and why?

Once I was out on my own I started out sleeping in the back of my truck. Then slept on the flatbed trailer, that was the worst, I always froze. Did a camper trailer for a long time, then 5th wheel. Once I started having kids I moved to DP and enclosed and it’s seriously my favorite. As stated above, I can pull up late, drop the automatic jacks and the kids can already be in bed, no having to pull everything out, fight to get all setup. And I also like the trailer as my garage. I have fuel, tool boxes and can fit extra stuff like chairs and coolers in there and not cram it all in the motorhome.

For me, the versatility of having the truck and basically having 5' of wasted space at the front of a moho that made the decision easier. I went back and forth a number of times but just found more positives with the trailer for us. If I had kids, that may have swayed my decision the other way.

We thought about a DP and enclosed but we stay at some locations for an extended time so we kinda need a pickup

Motorhome and enclosed. We don’t just to desert we do beach and mountains and the motorhome is just way easier. I have no problem pulling in the slides and heading into town or to explore a new area.

Also love loading up the trailer the night before we leave just so we can have one more relaxing night around the fire before we head home the next morning! My friends with trailers hate us for this!

I have had every combo, Truck/Pull behind trailer, Class a gasser/box trailer, truck /tow behind Toy Hauler, DP/ BOx trailer, Truck Big Azz 5th toy hauler, truck small 5th wheel towing flatbed, and now back to DP/ Box trailer or Flat tow jeep. The first DP/Box had to go due to Divorce. The newest DP/Box trailer and flat tow is the last rig I will buy. Air Ride and big Diesel drives so nice. Dont have to load wet dirty toys inside where I sleep. Pull in at night and lower the jacks and go to bed. Wife makes food while driving. IF I have to use the bathroom just pull over. Way too convenient for travelling.

You can run yourself ragged going back and forth between every possible way to get to and from the dunes and every other place you need an RV. There is no one perfect answer, just the best answer you can come up with for right now and if you don't like that answer just wait a week.

Motorhome lets you load multiple vehicles and greatly expands what you can bring/do. It's a major PITA if you use it for summer camping unless you bring another vehicle towed behind or rent when you get there. Motorhome also cares a lot less about an imperfectly loaded trailer. I wasn't even aware my trailer swayed until I towed it with the pickup... :ROFLMAO:

Let's add having a coach with an aqua hot is absolutely amazing. Zero propane needed.

Nice having the truck to head to other adventures other than OHV rides once camped.

I have ALL the above combo's and I really want to go back to a Moho and enclosed again.. Currently Moho and open trailer but hopefully thats not the end.. I had a Huge 5th wheel never unhooked the truck I had almost a dozen bumper pull TH Never unhooked the truck.. The Moho with a Family is much nicer in my opinion traveling

Moho won't go where I go during the summer and camping in the forest.
Wife likes to be isolated so we go pretty far in the woods.

They both definitely have their advantages/disadvantages. We recently looked into switching it up and going to a 5th wheel. Some very nice trailers out there but what brought us back to the RV/Box was the fact that only a few trailers will fit our car. The ones that have a garage big enough are too big for Camp Land and we enjoy that place too much to buy something we can't take there.
We currently have a 36' gasser A class that works for us. If we upgrade, we will want a pusher with 3 slides to give us more towing capacity and a larger living area.

Moho and enclosed because I don’t like sleeping in my garage.
When not towing the enclosed, I tow my Jeep for exploring or whatever.

ive had all the types as well. moho and enclosed is what im working back towards these days. it was nice having he enclosed to keep my sandcar, quad and dirtbike in and when weather turned shitty or i was done for th night i just pulled them back in the trailer for safe keeping. i switched to a 5th wheel toyhauler after i got rid of my moho i had, and my current sandcar is just too big and heavy for toyhaulers as it beat the living shit outa my old 5th wheel toyhauler. it was a pain in the ass to load the car as i had to change tires, jack the fornt up and strap it, and back it in and wiggle the steering to get the tires to squeeze thru the door opening. it was so tight in ther ei didnbt bother tying the thing down.

Another thing to consider... I use my box trailer to keep the bikes, generator, beach cruisers, ice chests, and dirt/sand tires stored when not in use. Helps me keep my garage space. Not sure if you would want to store things in a 5th wheel with all the fuel smells and everything.
